Ed Miliband’s “State of the Climate” speech wasn’t just a warning-it was a challenge to politics-as-usual. By anchoring action in science, history and national interest, the energy secretary laid the ground for a new climate norm: accountability to the future.

Jim Hansen has a substack. His first post is good. Jim is one of the greatest climate scientists and his work in the 1980s through 2000s set up the frameworks that we still use today for thinking about forcing and feedbacks.

A dangerous heatwave is bearing down on much of the United States this week. New research by @michaelemann.bsky.social finds "stalled atmospheric events linked to heatwaves, floods, and wildfires—driven by a phenomenon called quasi-resonant amplification (QRA)—have nearly tripled since the 1950s: 🧵

I am thinking a lot about the same thing! There are 1000 cats on Instagram that are more well known than the most famous climate scientists 😄

I think if there was actually some $$ to invest in communication, that would make a big difference. It’s hard to do this as a side gig with no support.
