“Proponents say it would create roughly 2,000 construction jobs plus more than 1,000 permanent jobs.”

Olds has a population of just over 9,000 and these people are saying a server farm will employ 11% of the population?

Yeah, no 🙄

We've done nothing in the last 50 years. That little blip on the right is covid. Covid has done more to reduce CO2 emissions than all the governments in the world.

I took a course in environmental physics in 19fucking82 where we talked about climate basics. That's 45 years of foot-dragging, denial, obfuscation, LYING and, well, "Conservatives".

Meanwhile, the fossil fuel industry spends ~$700 MILLION/yr on lobbying & propaganda to avoid climate regulation.

“I don't see any plan, any strategy, any end game,” says Pat Parenteau, a professor of environmental law at the University of Vermont. “I don't see anything from this administration, just fuck everything up as much as you can. You can print that.”

Sounds accurate to me.

Once again, for the hundredth time: Alberta could solve this with a simple PST. You'd be able to balance the budget *and* save non-renewable resource royalties for the future.

But, of course, the self-appointed "fiscal conservatives" won't entertain the idea. #abpoli

My question: what can we do about it? Hacking up K-Country isn't OK, especially because portions of previously protected parks are going to be sold off for real estate developments.

"Defend Alberta Parks" NEVER mattered more than today.

Evan Thomas Provincial Recreation Area is now the second provincial park in Kananaskis to have their boundary changed without public consultation under the UCP's new All Season-Resorts Act.
Albertans deserve transparency from their government, and these boundary changes have been anything but.

A helmet.

Honouring victims of an illegal war and genocide.

That’s not “politics.” That’s basic human morality. That’s grief. Sadly that’s Ukrainian life and culture now.

Shame on you IOC.
