Hey, #abpoli, did any of you get a call from the Alberta Govt tonight for the budget 2025 budget town hall with Horner? Cuz they had my number - for reasons that escape me.

Do they have t-shirts? I'll bet they're pretty cool.
Bullshit.

Danielle Smith surrendered to the SoCred's and their insistence ontheir version of Christianity being the basis for governing the province. They were not elected to overlord us with this anti-Charter bs. But merry fucking xmas, you heathens, is baked firmly into this fuck you from Demetrious. #ableg

Twitter is over. Nothing to be gained from going back to that place that replaced it. And No one reads. No one has ever really read all that much tbh. People are visual consumers.
to be clear, it is fine if you just want to dick around! that's what i mostly do on here. but the idea that "you're giving up the fight to influence people by not using X" is belied by the fact that effectively *no one* uses X. and i don't see any of the "use X!" people on tiktok or youtube.

I was fully into the conspiracies growing up until I stood in Dealy Plaza & looked up at the Book Depository window. One of the common theories was it was too difficult a shot.
Sorry, but it isn't that far. I realized then that I could make that shot with iron sights. Oswald probably made the shot
My first political memory - exactly 62 years ago right now, a 4-year-old boy trying to understand his mom's tears - is still the biggest event in my lifetime. We still (IMO) don't *really* know who killed JFK, but we know the public's trust was shattered. It's a straight line to today's mess

To clarify: the current vaccine does not include subclade K of H3N2, which is circulating now. It is not more virulent or serious. But the fact that we are not protected from it means we're more likely to be infected with it. H3N2 is always more serious, in general, especially for elderly.
I am fully vaccinated but masking as there is one particularly virulent strain of flu out there not covered by this shot. Haven't been sick with a cold or flu since 2019 but I don't have kids at home and I am retired since then so I can avoid crowds as much as needed...

Okay, yeah. Mostly. But there was the time when my MP had to deal with a tweet of mine that ended up as the focal point of an article in the local paper. So that was a minute of my life well spent. People still remember it. Plus he runs away whenever he sees me in public. So no regrets here.
I think it's important not to misunderstand what these social media platforms are. They are not public arenas where we bravely take on reactionary forces in honorable combat. They are apps that expose you to stress and thereby simulate the feeling of having done something useful

What I loved about Twitter and now BlueSky is that for my whole life I had these pointless thoughts and dumb jokes popping into my head and bouncing around endlessly inside my skull with no escape. Now I can just post them and exorcise them from my thoughts. Now they're your problem. Sorry.

This has always been true. The advertising budgets reveal the audience size. At twitter’s height, viral posters there were offered like $50 to spam promote a lamp in their own comments. Meanwhile youtubers make videos titled “I blew up a Ferrari in outer space”
i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

Trump’s post that Rob Reiner had a stabbing death coming to him because he opposed Trump will be forgotten in a day or two. Like everything else. If we were a rational society, these appalling words and actions would be cumulative and we’d get rid of the bastard. Instead everything is a one-off.
