Hi BlueSky! I figure it might be polite to introduce myself. Outdoors enthusiast in the intersectional sense, hyperlocal Somervillian, everyday environmentalist. Likes circularity, friendlier cities, fermentation, public media, life; dislikes asphalt, billboards, greed, and confidently bad drivers.
While on most days I’m supremely disappointed by the amount of red light running at the busy School/Broadway intersection, I finally witnessed some solid enforcement by SPD today.

Add automated enforcement and “yield to ped x-ing” signs for those exiting School St and we’ll be getting somewhere…

"Does our plastic actually get recycled?" The #CamberVille newsletter is always excellent, but this one is truly a must-read: a deep dive into the recycling processing plant where all of Somerville's recycling winds up: mailchi.mp/bostonglobe....

Wow it’s a gorgeous afternoon for a meander through the Fells! Apparently the deer agree, as I’ve come up on more today than I have in the last year or so.

Pictures: not a deer, *just* the Fells… though I do think I caught a couple of them on the Holga 120.

Locals: "More car trips are awful! Traffic is bad! We can't build any more stuff!"

Also locals: "I gotta drive my car to the grocery store that is physically closest to me, but that's not the problem I'm talking about!"

⏰ Based on sightings of other suspicious vehicles around 81 Highland Ave, there is concern that the ICE agents will be going to Somerville High School around pickup time (2:30). Somerville Rapid Response team members will be at the school to monitor and walk with students, if desired.
Stay safe. ✊

I ran home because it was COLD in the chambers, and got online just in time to see this slide showing that if property owners can locally sequester just the first 3/4" of rainwater in a storm, it has basically the same impact as redoing all our sewers.

Buy local! Buy fresh! If they’re going to see a bad year on the grant funding side of the equation, at least we can give them a good year on the sales side.
The USDA is rolling back programs intended to strengthen local food supply chains. Small scale farmers like Reunity Resources in Santa Fe are feeling it the most.

I went to the Senate floor to tell a story about Trump’s first 100 days - a story of daily, norm shattering corruption.

I laid out 40 different corrupt acts - each one alone could have taken down previous presidents.

1/ A 🧵 of my speech. People need to know this story.

In the spirit of calling things by their correct names, Musk’s project is not about ‘efficiency’ at any level.

Efficiency is the ratio of (useful) work performed per energy consumed.

A wood chipper doesn’t make a tree more efficient.

It kills it.
