4 grounding questions [if useful at this moment]:
1. What resources exist so I can better educate myself [about x issue]?
2. Who's already doing work around this injustice?
3. Do I have the capacity to offer concrete support & help to them?
4. How can I be constructive?

Censorship is so 1984. Read for your rights.
Today kicks off #BannedBooksWeek, and this year's theme reminds us that the right to read belongs to all of us, that censorship has no place in contemporary society, and that we must defend our rights.

I was sneezing all day yesterday but I did my witches brew (zinc spray, cold bomb, and nyquil) and it worked! Slept 12 hours and feel all better 🙂

My new favorite meditation is feeling my pulse throughout my whole body. Following the breath never worked for me, it’s too slow. It’s wild to feel this wavy thudding that is constantly going, but simply tuned out.

I start my new job in two weeks on October 6.
It’s a year-long contract (fully remote) for $180k, which works for me b/c it gets me exactly what I need & allows me to accomplish a helluva lot.
Also, a reminder: if you’re a Black software engineer, DM me b/c they’re still recruiting to fill spots.

Last chance to speak out against the Coney Island casino proposal is this Weds 9/10. They’re also reading all emails and comments!
If you love the boardwalk, the art, the rides, the old school NYC culture, say something.

I just made a whole packet of mystery grid drawing puzzles for my UX grad students (to sharpen their eyes) and I am so excited to give them out. They get to draw a WOLF and a TIGER and a PEGASUS! Lots of fun ones at www.teacherspayteachers.com

Still gaping at the Victorian zing of writer Jane Carlyle, who wrote detailed diaries about what a bad husband her brilliant and famous philosopher husband Thomas Carlyle was, knowing their papers would be published together posthumously. (Read Parallel Lives by Phyllis Rose for more A+ gossip.)

🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands.
Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵

What so ridiculous about working out is that you have to keep doing it. I’ve played so many sports and done so many practices, I feel like I should just get to relax for like 20 years and still be fit.

Found a better printer for my book so I knocked another $10 off! It'll be the textbook for my UX/UI Essentials class at SVA's masters in product design in the fall, let me know if you're interested in the class plan (TLDR: read the book backwards)
