DAI’s Local Content Masterclass is coming to London for the first time.

As the global economy shifts, local content has never been more important. Governments and businesses are rethinking supply chains, accelerating energy transitions, and seeking to generate more local value

Yet another example of the stupid actions being taken by @elonmusk and @POTUS .... They are cancelling the lease of the USGS office in #Anchorage where experts monitor potential volcanic eruptions that could threaten the city and Pacific flight routes

After decades of quiet, this Alaska volcano could be ready to blow
Scientists warn that the Alaska volcano Mount Spurr is likely to erupt soon, showering ash on Anchorage and potentially disrupting air travel.

Here is a story from a good friend which illustrates how Donald Trump is going to be bad for business. My friend owns a steel fabrication business in Ontario, Canada. They are part of a specialized supply chain for large infra-structure projects in Canada, Europe, Asia and South America.

Must watch: GOP Senator Roger Marshall stands up and flees his own town hall meeting today after being asked why Republicans think it’s acceptable for DOGE to be firing Veterans.

This is a very rural, very conservative town.

To summarize:

-They stopped almost all USAID work

-Then they conceded that some programs actually saved lives & granted waivers for those

-Then they promised a “careful” 90 day review of everything

-Then they cancelled 90% anyway within just weeks, including many they had just deemed life-saving

NEW: When the Trump Admin abruptly cancelled almost all USAID programs, it also refused to pay $2bln the U.S. govt owes **for work that’s been done.**

One of the cut-off programs in Syria couldn’t afford security and was robbed by masked men.

I showed up at USAID today where the Trump admin forced staff to vacate all belongings from the building in 15 min. Thanks to all who showed up in solidarity on this tough day. This is where I got my start two decades ago, and I won’t stop fighting for our public servants.

Thanks to the thousands of employees who worked so tirelessly to try to solve some of the hardest challenges the planet and our country face. Starting with the Marshall Plan onward till today you helped give America a great reputation in a lot of places

People are gathering on the sidewalk in the rain to show their support, applauding workers as they pass by.

If "the United States would also commit to supporting Ukraine’s future economic development," then the Trump Administration will need #USAID @usaidstopwork.bsky.social and the #USDFC to do that! But of course #elonmusk hasn't done his homework to know that

Very pleased to discuss the blitzkrieg attack on the entire international development ecosystem of the United States yesterday at the Center for Development Economics at Williams College. Did you know that 94% of all #USAID spending in the last six years was audited and only 0.3% had issues?

Elon Musk needs to do his homework before opening his mouth. Yesterday in the Oval Office he mentioned the net worths reported on USG Ethics filings by senior USAID officials and speculated that given the modest USG salaries, they could have only gotten that net worth via corruption. WRONG

The blitzkrieg is almost complete. The #USAID name is coming off the building, staff are being recalled from around the world, programs are being abruptly cancelled leaving millions at risk, and the PRC is joyous over this folly.

A friend of mine in Toronto was in a grocery store yesterday and overheard a mother tell her daughter to put the blueberries from California back on the shelf and find the ones from Chile because she didn't want to purchase American made items. American farmers can thank POTUS for that
