It's time to stop using SHARE THE ROAD signs. They're deliberately vague and often misinterpreted. The real point of the signs: to remind drivers that bike riders have a right to use the full lane and that they need to be attentive and safe around riders. They don't connote both sides bullshit.

Over 50 miles round trip to IKEA today. Not the biggest haul ever but I got the stuff my DIL wanted. What could be more satisfying?
BTW, super disappointing that Centennial IKEA has exactly 0 bike parking! WTH?

Been riding & walking lately. Sometimes for the enjoyment. Sometimes bcs I desperately need to get out of the house. Literally moving thru my grief. That feels more constructive than spending my way thru grief.

Next time you're annoyed by those "pesky and radical advocates" trying to make some simple changes - remember this is what they're trying to prevent.

The reason I scream when I see Autism Speaks quoted is that for years they pushed the belief that vaccines cause autism. They also view autism as a disease. Autism Speaks holds views that are not compatible with the autistic community and they should not be viewed as a reliable voice on these issues

Is it nice to make those jokes? Not particularly. But we live in a society that has trained us not to expect compassion when misfortune befalls us, only ruinous bills, corporate indifference, and disrespect. To demand a performance of niceties from those denied the barest humanity is grotesque.

This requires that we make cities for people, instead of cars. Cars don't live anywhere. They don't work. They don't buy things.

People do. Thriving cities require people being people.

Remember that time the entire white community was held responsible for that white teenage boy who shot up a classroom? Neither do I. We don’t hold white people responsible for other white people, and we shouldn’t do that to other ethnic groups either.

"I'm an avid cyclist but...."

Exactly the problem. We don’t need infrastructure just for avid cyclists, we also need it for those new and apprehensive riders who are terrified of the extremely dangerous spaces that we ask them to ride in.

Alt text on images makes a real difference for people with visual impairments and anyone that could do with a bit more context. If you go to menu > settings > accessibility you can “require alt text before posting” to basically force yourself to remember to do it.
