Cookers were an inevitable offshoot of the New Age, but before cookers were a heap of twisted pseudo-spiritual cults like Universal Medicine. This is me reading my memoir 'Universal Predator' about the time its leader, Serge Benhayon, took me to court for defamation #cults youtu.be/mcqETL6UlA0...

People need to be able to say rude things about a guy who regularly talked about Black people like we aren't human, and the fact that Bsky seems more protective of a dead white man's memory than of living Black people's connection to community is a profoud, grotesque statement

Each day the upper management of different unis seemingly find new ways to disappoint those of us working at universities. I love what I do, it breaks my heart what's been allowed to happen to unis in recent decades. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-10... Robodebt for university academic integrity? WT!
University caught out using AI to wrongly accuse students of cheating with AI
An Australian university has accused thousands of its students of cheating with artificial intelligence. The problem? Many have done nothing wrong.

Started listening to excellent “The Last Invention” and the debate among AI experts over threat of super-intelligence. Am struck by the recurring presumption that AI will seek to dominate, when that tendency in some humans was likely forged by evolutionary pressures not central to AI development.

Unfortunate this technology was misnamed ‘intelligence’. People insist on anthropomorphising it based on wild, quasi-religious speculation on what aggregation software is capable of. It’s producing junk right now and that’s likely to get worse as human operators understand it less and less

While non-tech companies are upbeat about AI, their filings suggest less clear upsides. During an earnings call in February, Coca-Cola was excited about the technology — even though the key use was in the production of a TV commercial.

The FT sought to categorise the expected positive benefits of the technology. Most of the anticipated benefits, such as increased productivity, were vaguely stated and harder to categorise than the risks.

Companies anticipated being able to optimise workflows through automation, and hope to achieve market differentiation through their use of AI. Some hoped to be able to use the technology to improve the personalisation of their products.

Filings do reveal that the companies able to give clear AI upsides include those that serve the rising AI-driven data centre boom. Energy companies First Solar and Entergy cited AI as a demand driver.

Freeport-McMoran, which has a stockpile of copper, stated that “data centres and artificial intelligence developments” would support the metal’s price. The company also said the technology can help with material characterisation and mineral extraction.

Equipment manufacturer Caterpillar reported that its energy business was benefiting from supporting “data centre growth related to cloud computing and generative artificial intelligence”.

Here is how I appealed the suspension. It took them about an hour to respond. All in all I was down for about 4 hours.
Hello, I have been suspended for a post accusing me of threatening violence. If you look at the thread the post is part of, 1 am describing the evangelical belief system about the rapture, which includes the mass murder of Jews.
I, a Jew, was not making threats against Jews.
I, a Jew, was educating about the dangers that the evangelical community poses to Jews in order to *protect us*
This is obviously and clearly not a threat or an excuse for suspension.
Please reinstate my account.

A someone who has written extensively about the eugenic roots that permeates those who claim to be building so-called artificial general intelligence, I'm here to tell you to please NOT compare criticism against corporations claiming to build a machine god, with eugenics. The audacity.
if you're writing a sentence that sounds like eugenics but you go "oh that's fine to say because it's not a real person" (whatever that means) you may want to consider what made you okay with saying that.

This is not satire. At least 1,500 people have been arrested in the past few weeks.

A large number of far right actors who have been arrested, including leaders of these rallies, have convictions of domestic and/or sexual abuse, including of children. This is something that ought to be front and center whenever these people are talked about.

google wants to introduce errors into my spreadsheets and attribute them to me
screenshot of a popup on Google Sheets with two buttons "Learn more" and "Got it"

header reads "Gemini can now do more for you in Sheets" with "for" scribbled out in red, and the word AS above it, so it says "Gemini can now do more AS you in Sheets"

below that:
Gemini can now make requested changes and insert content directly into your files.

HIGHLIGHTED TEXT: All inserted content will be attributed to you in version history.

For inline features like =Al), Gemini will insert content directly. For the side panel, Gemini will provide a preview first unless it understands your goal is a direct edit, such as making a pivot table or adding conditional formatting.
Gemini in Workspace can make mistakes, including about people, so double-check responses.
