Millions of people use dating apps, but few people love them. From hassle to harassment, ghosting to gamification, to being breadcrumbed or left on the back burner, there are many reasons to want to delete.

This is becoming a worrying trend as relationship advice is now marketised and monetised by big tech.

And difficult to foresee the longer term social impact of increased AI use in dating/relationships on how we trust, talk to, and relate to others.

The book brings together leading scholars from philosophy and other disciplines to think about the impact of online dating as it shapes individuals, their politics, and wider society.

Did an interview with the @wsj.com and two other experts on AI companionship. Not all of the conversation made it in of course, but overall it was a pretty good discussion! Betteridge’s Law applies.
Can You Really Have a Romantic Relationship With AI?
Yes, you can. And it can be good for you. But the danger is seeing it as a substitute for a human connection. Three experts weigh in.

“Innovators will no longer be limited by these standards [and regulations].”

Predictable but still heartbreaking. Buckle up folks, you’re on a ride with no brakes and no one behind the wheel who cares about your safety.
