The conservative mind is primed for fascism because of their strong attachment to hierarchy and status.

Men > women
White people > minorities
Rich > poor

and so on. As long as they believe they get to oppress people who are lower status, they’ll gladly be oppressed.

This is how Trump wins.

When we published this post by @alexandrageese.bsky.social, a Member of the European Parliament, I didn't expect it to coincide with Elon Musk calling for the abolition of the European Union; but it certainly underscores the point.

The calls from America this weekend to "abolish the EU" are for one simple reason: the EU is the only thing that can keep European nation-states from becoming Russian or American vassals.
The US has declared rhetorical war on the EU
The calls from America this weekend to destroy the EU are revealing. They hate the union because it's the only thing that can keep European countries from being Russian or American vassals.

Don't let anyone tell you that the Commission's DSA enforcement against X is about speech or censorship.

That would, indeed, be interesting. But this is just the EU enforcing some normal, boring laws that would get bipartisan support in the U.S. (I bet similar bills *have* had that support.) 1/

Tesla sales are down -12.2% year over year in Europe and down -36.3% if you exclude Norway which has had a surge in sales just before tax benefits for buying premium EVs expire.

Tesla's stock continues to defy gravity as shareholders no longer care about EV sales since it's now robotaxis & robots.

The US National Security Strategy released overnight has shocked Europeans.

In truth, its plans for Europe are just a reiteration of what the State Department already publicly posted back in May. But Europeans have not wanted to listen.
New US security strategy lays bare European regime change plans
While the Trump administration claims they no longer want the US to "prop up the entire world order like Atlas", in the same document they dictate to Europe what it can and can't do.
