No need to up the flood insurance, but there's POTENTIAL (below) for decent rainfall in the mountains. Here's how much rain the NWS is currently expecting in a few spots by Saturday morn: Julian, 0.37 of an inch; Borrego, 0.22; Fallbrook, 0.10; El Cajon, 0.08; San Diego, 0.04. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

The weather service has upped the odds for rain on Thursday from remnants of Hurricane Priscilla. The chances are now slightly less Friday. If the rain happens, we'll likely get just a few hundredths of an inch at the coast & in the valleys, maybe 2 tenths in the mountains. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

Priscilla is expected to be a major hurricane later today, with sustained winds of 115 mph. The outer bands of the storm are already affecting the southern tip of Baja. Priscilla should be a tropical depression after it veers right. It should reach the U.S. border region Sunday. #CAwx #Priscilla

Socked in this morning here in inland North County. Visibility under 1/4 mile. Remnants of Hurricane Priscilla should begin to arrive Thursday. The weather service has about a 25% chance of showers west of the mountains Thursday, then the odds go up just a tiny bit Friday. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

The sun started to break through around 9 this morning at Escondido’s Daley Ranch. Pic is of Mallard Pond. Mild, early-fall temperatures expected in the valleys this week before a chance of showers arrives Thursday night and lasts through Saturday afternoon. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

Hurricane Priscilla will not make it close to Southern California, but remnants of the storm could come into play. The weather service says San Diego will have a slight chance of showers from Thursday night through Saturday afternoon. Better odds for rain are in the desert. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

So far, the dry, offshore flow we often get in October hasn't shown up. Instead, we've got a moist onshore flow & low clouds. Forecasters say later this week, we could see another batch of subtropical moisture as remnants of Tropical Storm Priscilla are drawn over the region. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

A trip to Pala Thursday yielded 516 viable acorns for propagation. Much thanks to Phil, one of The Oak Project’s biggest donors and supporters. The acorns were from coast live oaks (Quercus agrifolia); scrub oaks (pictured, Quercus berberidifolia); and Englemanns (Quercus engelmanni). #oaks #trees

Potential tropical cyclone remnants and broad area of low pressure in the middle latitudes supports a tilt in the odds toward wet weather across the West next week, particularly the Desert Southwest and Southern California. #CAwx #AZwx

San Diego County has escaped hot spells since summer's end. But October can still bring the heat. Five of San Diego's 15 hottest days on record came during the month. Oct. 14, 1961, is tied for the 3rd hottest day, with a high of 107.° Hottest any month: Sept. 26, 1963, 111°. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

Good soaking today in the Bay Area. It's always nice to see early October rain anywhere in California to give at least a temporary reprieve from the usual fall fire danger. #CAwx

The water year ended Tuesday (Sept. 30). San Diego finished with 5.07 inches of rain, just more than half the normal annual total (9.79). It's the 16th driest year in city history (since 1850) & the driest since 2017-18, when 3.34 inches fell. Last year, the city got 12.43. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

September 2025 temperature ranking (compared to all Septembers since 1895) and September 2025 temperature departure form the 1991-2020 normal. It's as if something has changed. 🤔🔥

The weather conditions in parts of the Colorado Rockies have been perfect for a glorious display of fall colors. Sometimes, early storms and/or winds can mess with the show. Not this year. My son sends this shot of aspens turning near Kenosha Pass.

Oak Project founder Jim Crouch says this could be an early year for acorns. If you have some to donate for our re-oak efforts (we’re hoping to raise and distribute 20,000 seedlings next year), contact Jim at @[email protected]

San Diego County appears to be settling into a mild stretch to end September and begin October. There should be minor fluctuations in temperatures and the marine layer. So far, temps in San Diego have averaged just a tad above normal in September, over by 0.4 of a degree. #sandiegoweather #CAwx
