"Biological Sex" started proliferating with Alliance Defending Freedom & ACPeds's trans bathroom ban model bill in 2015. It existed in some circles outside of legislation before then, but in bills it's only the transphobes using it - or it was until recently

Utah commissioned it's department of health to do a systematic review of gender affirming care for trans youth. In a 1000 page plus report found it was beneficial and the evidence was substantial. The lawmakers rejected it anyways.

Confirmation that the New York Times has changed their internal style guide to cease using the term "gender affirming care" and instead use the term "gender related care."
I asked around and this does appear to be a deliberate style change. It wasn’t announced to staff, but contentious style changes often aren’t. They’re just imposed by the standards desk when they review a story. (Take that for what it is) This desk btw is run by Patrick Healy, no friend of trans ppl

One reason the NYT has burned its credibility with trans people is that they still cite the discredited Cass report in reporting on trans healthcare. Never the German, Utah, or other systematic reviews supporting care. They also never provide the political context behind restrictions in care.
