I keep seeing supposedly progressive podcasts saying “the problem is that people feel like they just can’t talk about these issues” while these issues are frequently the *only* thing that people are talking about 😩
Am struggling with the idea that people like me somehow don't understand the legitimate concerns of people who attended the Tommy Robinson march. I literally had National Front fliers through my letterbox in my childhood in Greater London and I went to school and university with actual fascists.

Ta-Nehasi Coates is doing a lot of things with this essay, but one of the most important is fearlessly using examples of anti-trans hate to describe Charlie Kirk's politics.

The contrast between his choices and those of other writers for major legacy outlets is revealing.
Charlie Kirk, Redeemed: A Political Class Finds Its Lost Cause
By ignoring the rhetoric and actions of the Turning Point USA founder, pundits and politicians are sanitizing his legacy.

From « EU money should no be used to build border fences because they are not effective » to « let’s have a press conference in front of one ».
My visit to the Poland-Belarus border was a demonstration of European solidarity.

A strong Poland and a strong Europe, safeguarding our borders and protecting all Europeans.

Our message is clear. And it is one that Belarus, and other actors in the region, are paying heed to.

As dozens of their colleagues were killed, they reported.

Until their last breaths, they reported.

Their targeted killing while reporting must be investigated as a war crime.
