Cert grant on g(3) will be interesting because the Court will have to tell us how the government can determine if someone is dangerous enough to disarm them. Second 2A grant of the term. We will see if they have appetite for any more.

What do @everytown.bsky.social @momsdemand.bsky.social and @giffords.org think about the US v. Hemani case that was granted certiorari?

I’ve never been clear on their position re: drug users and the 2A.

It appears that @drustevenson.bsky.social didn’t like me pointing out his blatant misrepresentation of Wolford v. Lopez. I expect better from a law professor who claims to be an expert on gun laws.

Certainly didn’t agree with him on everything, but he wasn’t wrong with this one.

Friendly reminder to all the very selective originalists out there that the original public meaning of the Second Amendment included that it was somehow supposed to prevent a permanent federal standing army that could be deployed against our own people.
This is a real photograph of Washington, DC this week, where the United States president has ordered military occupation in peacetime, and ordered the display of colossal portraits of himself.

The Trump Administration has made it clear: they are callously using Kilmar Ábrego García as a pawn and a distraction. We live in a nation of laws, and as much as Trump may hate it, Kilmar Ábrego García is entitled to due process.

Before the midterms and especially before the 2028 Presidential race, the Democratic Party needs to figure out a (mostly unified) position on immigration. Letting the opposition define our position is not a winning strategy.

Burning the American flag is protected free speech. Period.

But it’s also disrespectful and unlikely to earn much public sympathy.

Two private equity backed companies have dominated prison healthcare for years.

High level investigators, like the Department of Justice, have accused both of violating inmates' constitutional rights.

Facing mounting lawsuits, both filed for bankruptcy.

Both are still in business.
Early one morning, screams echoed in the halls of a Santa Barbara jail. An inmate was moaning and hyperventilating. Her “guts are all twisted up”.

Staff ignored her pleas to go to the hospital.

She died.

And nobody got more than a slap on the wrist.

The housing crisis isn’t a 🔴 or 🔵 issue—it impacts us all and Americans need solutions.

Grateful to be in West Philly with the Philadelphia Housing Authority checking out their progress in developing 1,000 new units.

Great things happen when we cut through the noise and deliver.
