So the church (C of E, anyway) has finally caught up with the very first moments of Christianity as a faith, in which women were the first witnesses and teachers.
Large group of male disciples to three women: 'So ladies, thanks for being the first to witness and report the resurrection and we'll take it from here'. Cartoon by @nakedpastor: https://nakedpastor.com/

Nothing says Christmas like a pair of pyjamas decked in chains. Now, for low price of £13, you too can be Jacob Marley.

Good morning.
I don't know if this makes me laugh or cry, but you decide for yourself.
(I decided to laugh, bc that's what I needed more.)

This is your friendly reminder to VOTE in the @royalhistsoc.org Council elections. Not necessarily for me (though if you felt moved in that direction it would be appreciated), but for any candidates you feel represent you and your experiences of 'doing' History. #skystorians #academicsky 🗃️

It is impossible to talk about civility without talking about power. The people deciding what is and isn't civil are often the same people who weaponize its use and shield those seeking to oppress while silencing those seeking to speak out against oppression. Civility is used to excuse/negate harm.

Am particularly happy about this *11 October* Bham Lit Festival event featuring our new #ColonialCountryside project book (pub. by @peepaltreepress.bsky.social). It's the outcome of our work with the National Trust on its country houses' connections to empire

People are following federal agents around DC w/the Imperial March. 😘

CHICAGO!!

Will add some basic ICE melting🧊 resources below.

Plz add other resources/ideas, & let’s get sub threads by city, so eg one person can start a Boston reply thread and everyone can add stuff to that thread — ?

It's that time of year again, annual elections for election to Council of the National Trust. Lots of candidates to choose from.

Read carefully and vote wisely if you don't want the direction of travel to be backward.

What's better than a rainbow-coloured bed of dahlias?

An actual rainbow shining over the rainbow-coloured dahlias.
A semi-circular bed full of dahlias in bloom, blooming in shades of pink on the right, fading through to red hues, then orange and yellow. The sky above has dark clouds but the sun (not seen) is casting a glow across the garden while a rainbow shines above it.

#18thc #skystorians! Help! Was faux nudity a thing during Restoration masques or plays or early 18thC theatrical productions? Looking for context for a masq habit of a 'naked' Adam (he was wearing sarsinet) & trying to determine how shocking this actually would have been...

Running & revising in equal measure. I got my reader reports back & I'm here to myth-bust. Reviewer 2 can be nice! Reviewer 1 AND Reviewer 2 were encouraging, generous, & constructive. I'm so grateful to them, sharing their summertime w/my drafty mss and giving helpful, thoughtful feedback. #18thc

That time my four-year-old's potty humour showed up in my research. This #18thc poem reads alot like 'Who Pooed in My Loo' 💩

That was one of the most batshit press conferences of Trump's public life. He brandished a photo of Putin and promised to deploy the US military to occupy Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. A sane country would be moving toward impeachment and removal right now.

My book drops in less than a week and I am thrilled to be with @hopkinspress.bsky.social. My first encounter with the press was also my first intellectual crush: their translations of Carlo Ginzburg beginning in 1980. 1/2 press.jhu.edu/books/title/...
