Retired MD who’s also a Boaltie JD (& a ‘mustang’ vet). PS that Khrushchev quote isn’t an endorsement; it actually Putin’s dream come true, thanks to our own Manchurian POTUS, DT.

Am I the only person who remembers 2018 “Trump Tariff Relief” program, a $41B bailout paid for by US taxpayers after DT started a trade war by slapping China w/tariffs, but they retaliated by slapping tariffs on US soybean/corn/wheat, so China simply bought from our competitors (Canada & MX)?

Soybean Farmer: So now I've got a tariff war that's killing my market. I don't have any money from grain we're sending to other countries for USAID. I mean, I've got a compound problem. I don't know how you plan for next year because we don't know where we're at.

This is ground zero for ICE. Nothing burned. No broken windows. No damaged cars. A few dozen protestors hanging out. This is war ravaged? This is terrorists in control?

Look at how this MAGA propagandist, Benny Johnson, spins this scene: “army of Antifa.”

It’s a small group of people and a guy in chicken suit.

What part of “retired” don’t you understand?

Is it the word, “retired”?

Biden’s not a dictator (not even a benevolent one), & even though I advocated he make use of SCOTUS dangerous Trump v US ruling (7/1/24) before he left office on 1/20/25), I knew he wouldn’t (as did SCOTUS majority, handing down the ruling with 6 mo left to his term, knowing he wouldn’t).

NG members are wknd warriors (1 weekend/mo, 30 days/yr) & signed up because they have families, careers, attend college, etc. & want to help THEIR fellow citizens in THEIR State but don’t want to be used as toy soldiers by DT.

It’s not cool to fat shame anyone, esp. when they can’t refuse orders.

Except the hypocrisy is not an oversight or a mistake: it’s quite conscious, as they see it as a feature, & not a bug.

I have a version of that Peter Griffin meme that makes the same point…

If anything, we are actually deeper into a Worse Case Scenario today than these headlines reflect. This is too mild for today.

Remember when the Boston Globe ran this supposedly over-the-top front page to attack the idea of Trump ever being president, and now this is just the news every day? We've fallen so, so far because of this man

It's been two weeks since Adelita Grijalva was elected and Mike Johnson has still refused to seat her, unlike in past cases where he swore in new members within 24 hours.

There cannot be one set of rules for Rs and another for Ds.

Also, release the damn Epstein files already.

Stephen froze like a deer in the headlights and pretended to have connection issues because he unintentionally gave away the game plan.

“Plenary authority is complete, absolute power over a specific area or issue, with no significant limitations."

Show people this clip. This is an insane slip up.

Yeah, Miller finally remembered his public statements can be admitted into evidence in court by the plaintiff, so rather than digging himself in deeper by blabbering on cable TV, he faked a technical issue…

Dude should’ve just shut his big fat mouth & refused to talk about a pending legal matter.

Are U admitting that U DON’T know Maddow is a talking-head who’s only spouting her opinion (although unlike Fox, MSNBC sticks closer to facts & not feels or what they hope to be true), so U’re actually proving the point that OANN & Herring were arguing that her viewers believe she’s a journalist?

If U don’t understand the ruling, practically-speaking, RM knew she couldn’t prove OAN was paid by Sputnik (a known Kremlin propaganda outlet) so couldn’t avail herself of “truth” defense to defend her statement in a defamation suit, but COULD rely on the “opinion” defense, saying viewers knew that.
feefer2.bsky.social
Other than I’m a retired lawyer?

RM won defamation suit (Herring v. Maddow) after OAN sued RM for saying, “OAN lit. is paid RU propaganda.”

Fed judge tossed it in 2020, ruling it was protected opinion 1A, not a factual claim.

9th C. upheld, agreeing viewers would take it as opinion, & not fact.

No they’re still around, but that logo is ANCIENT and just screams of the 90s early era of computers, with a highly pixelated digitized photo… (the logo has since been modernized, but MAGATs just love to gaslight as the complaint little fascist piggies that they are).

Many (eg Ayman/Ali) worked as video journalists in past, & eg may still work their sources (eg Ruhle is biz reporter), but MSNBC pays them to air opinions, not to investigate stories.

Even though MSNBC conform to journalistic standards more than Fox, they hire on air-talent opinionators (Hannity)
feefer2.bsky.social
They’re not traditional journalists in the sense of reporting news. They’re editorialists/hosts of opinion shows who interpret, comment on, & curate news rather than independently investigate or report it. Saying they’re “journalists” ignores distinction between news reporting & opinion commentary.
feefer2.bsky.social
Rachel Maddow hosts a highly-rated weekly show on MSNBC, and she writes best-selling educational historical books, but even she’s publicly stated she’s not a journalist, relying on that as her defense in a defamation suit (which she won after her lawyer said she was offering her personal opinion).
feefer2.bsky.social
Uh, no….

That’s not how it works.

The aforementioned are all highly-rated TV opinionators/editorialists, who, although they may serve as journalists by investigating stories, often just talk about news of the day, while having journalists on their shows to present their news stories of the day.
