We want to transform early intervention for youth mental health.

Our new funding award will help achieve this.

We're supporting teams to accelerate the evaluation and roll out of effective social and psychological interventions.

Applications close 11 Nov ⤵️

Benny Prawira, Lived Experience Advisor at Wellcome says, "My wish is that new psychosocial interventions can do more than just make youth 'feel better' – but actually help them stay in school, find jobs and rebuild relationships."

There are 2 Grammar Schools in Handsworth. I was one of the few locals at the girls one. There has been no shortage of white people willing to 'brave' the area to get to them. Over time these schools have become more reflective of the diversity of the area.

A weird time to be a historian of multiculturalism, who grew up in Birmingham as one of a handful of white kids at school, who has also written a book on Handsworth. My thoughts on Robert Jenrick’s unabashed racism in @thenewworldmag.bsky.social

What Robert Jenrick doesn’t understand about Birmingham

Handsworth's problems are not its people but a post industrial dismantling and lack of investment. Similar impacting 'white' areas elsewhere. An attitude of condescending contempt and a disastrous display of incompetence from a series of arrogant, self-serving politicians does not help.

I was born and raised in Handsworth and have (white Irish) family still there. The Jenrick/venal right wing gaze is a pathetic racist fallacy.

Sharing this beautiful slice of British reggae; "Handsworth Revolution" by Steel Pulse. The good people of Handsworth and Birmingham don't deserve the likes of racist Robert Jenrick in their streets.

#Handsworth could teach @RobertJenrick how to live in a global society. #BenjaminZephaniah - spirit of #Birmingham - said "Handsworth for me is...where I learnt all my skills, my communication skills, my hustling skills, my poetic skills, everything."

A welcome, if belated, awakening to the disconnect between Musk's actions and the stated values of the Royal Society?

Mini-scoop: After resisting pressure to strip Elon Musk of his fellowship for months, the Royal Society is meeting on 1 October to discuss his removal – following his decision to address Tommy Robinson's far-right rally on Saturday.

Can't think of many better illustrations of how badly we have botched housing policy than the fact that our bill for housing homeless families (£2.8bn pa) is now higher than the money we spend each year on new affordable housing (£2.3bn)

English councils’ temporary accommodation bill rises to £2.8bn
Councils in England spent a record £2.8bn on temporary accommodation last year, with the annual bill rising by 25% as the homelessness crisis deepens.

This government promised us 'the biggest wave of insourcing of public services in a generation' 🌊

Have you seen it?! We definitely haven't. 🧐

BUT now that the government are planning changes to the Procurement Act, we've got a chance to put the pressure on. 💪

Take action now. 👇
