I really don’t care for this new term “clanker”. I sounds and feels way too familiar.
If we don’t address these underlying prejudices, they’ll keep replicating in nastier and nastier ways. It’s not going to die out with the “olds”. The youth have these issues baked into them, too.

Never forget that when Congress asked the Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy if they WANTED a new strike/fighter aircraft, all three branches said no, but then Lockheed Martin said yes, so we bought 900 of them at $90 million each.

One thing I love about the Chronicles of Elantra series is how things can come back to be relevant. Did Kaylin think of the political implications of declaring Terrano kyuthe? Not at all! I saw this plaque when I visited Milwaukee last month, and I'd had absolutely NO idea of this story before then. Absolutely incredible stuff, honestly.
I shouldn't be shocked, really, growing up white and Mormon, but I am still amazed how much I don't know about queer history.
I am not at all shocked, though, to find a black woman at the center of defending freedom.
