Government agencies — and civil society organisations — using Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are aiding these scams by lending credibility to these platforms and reasons for members of the public to use them.
Facebook is a scam factory. Meta's own internal audit reveals 10% of their revenue comes from spam advertising - $16bn annually. Between 2020-2023 scam losses in Australia increased 249%. In 76% of cases, contact occurred on Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp).

The NZ Labour Party must provide hope to, and inspire, a generation of people.

If the policy options it will finalise at this weekend’s conference don’t do that, don’t provide a radical alternative and sense of optimism, people will continue to leave Aotearoa in droves.
Captures the mood of much of the country under this government - bleak, with a sense that everything is broken, that there is no opportunity for young people to get ahead, and that the government simply doesn't care.

We must try to stop the government from implementing an under 16 internet ban, and hence 🆔 required.

NZ 🤡 will probably pass it under urgency.

Increasingly of the view as this spreads that:

(a) this is a grab for all adults' identity documents so there can be no truly pseudonymous posting as far as the state is concerned; and

(b) states want to be free to indoctrinate Gen AA (or whatever we're calling them) while they're impressionable.

Dear NZ Labour,

Everyone hates National right now, and a big part of that is their coalition with ACT and NZF, so I'd suggest you get very on board with the Greens and hope that you don't need to touch Seymour or Peters with the shitty end of a very long stick.
