@leahgreenberg.bsky.social - In regards to the question asked during What's the Plan last week, @propublica.org has done a good bit of work collecting ICE stats.
Here's one example, but I know there are more:
www.propublica.org/article/immi...
More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

Let's not drop this ball.
Social media is full of people sharing their Spotify Wrapped results — while Spotify is full of ICE recruitment ads.

As long as Spotify is willing to take money from ICE, they don’t need (and don’t deserve) free advertising on our social feeds.

1/ While some of this increase may be due to inflation, I remain discouraged by an America that appears to prioritize consumption above... pretty much everything. If we can't even shut down Black Friday, #GeneralStrike proponents will be deeply disappointed.
Shoppers spend billions on Black Friday to snag holiday deals, despite wider economic uncertainty
Despite wider economic uncertainty hovering above this year’s holiday season, shoppers turned out in big numbers for Black Friday — spending billions of dollars both in stores and online.

Yep.
Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

There are plenty of other businesses that deserve to be on this list. But it's easier to get mass action that has a financial impact by focusing our energy on a few. Let others wonder if they'll be the next target.

Wait, what?? I think @rbreich.bsky.social may be on to something here.
"Importantly, a state that no longer grants its corporations the power to spend in elections also denies that power to corporations chartered in the other 49 states, if they wish to do business in that state."

1/ We all feel a sense of accomplishment when we approach the famous 3.5% threshold at protests. But it's just the beginning. We need that many people pushing on those "pillars of support" in a sustained manner. That's what the actions in following posts are meant to do.

If Senators Slotkin or Kelly, or Reps Crow, Deluzio, Goodlander, or Houlahan are one of your electeds, call them and tell them You Approve of This Message!
(And also that it should be a Superbowl ad?)

There's a lot of talk about how #CitizensUnited harms democracy. But how much do you really know about it?

And here we have a crack in a pillar of authoritarianism. We, the people, must convince businesses it is not in their best interests to uphold it any longer.
"Shi calls Operation Midway Blitz economically reckless. She says revenues for some businesses have gone down by 50%."

Finaly (?) thought regarding the shutdown: I think the DEMs had no good solution. Ultimately, I think their biggest error was in their timing.

LA, you've got (yet another) job to do.
America, This Is A Test. If we can't do this small thing, we'll never manage the big things.
LOS ANGELES: Spotify is doubling down on its decision to help recruit for ICE, so we're turning up the volume on our campaign to Cancel Spotify until they stop running ICE ads.

Continuing to chew on pros/cons of ending the shut down. Pretty sure GOP never would have caved. Regardless of viewpoint, THE TIMING WAS AWFUL! Not while SNAP payments were awaiting final ruling. Not while majority of DEM base wanted to continue. Not immediately after election success.

Seattle Alert!!
if you voted in Seattle you gotta make sure your ballot counted now
There are 1,700 ballots that need signature confirmation. That is enough to change the election.

Go. Check. Your. Ballot.

I do agree with the @indivisible.org strategy: Primary like Hell, to get what we want out of our party, then Unite like Hell behind whoever wins the various primaries.
Because 2026 ain't gonna be no time for a protest vote. That much is certain.
November 11, 2025 at 5:56 PM
I have so many feelings about the shut down of the shut down. There is no end to the things to worry about. But one of those things is the damage the DEMs did to themselves. Their base is, rightly or wrongly, *enraged.* This, we do not need. At all.
November 11, 2025 at 5:22 PM
"Pressure still matters."
Is the shutdown over? Not yet.
Tonight’s vote was only step 1 of 5.
There’s still another 60-vote hurdle, amendments, AND then the House.
Pressure matters right now—especially on Kaine, Rosen, Hassan, Shaheen.
Stay loud.

I suppose we'll end up judging Schumer's call based on how the story ends. Food for thought for the moment.
