Level design started with a fractal base, then in most cases a zoomed-out flow idea (‘keep looping til you realize you can go off-piste’) then finally ‘foot interest’ and sightlines. I dunno at least that’s where we ended up, at first we were really bad at it, as you saw when you playtested

Scenes were basically all improvised except sometimes a redo of an improvised scene. The required cutscenes had narrative planning but improvised lines.

UltraNothing is the one of the best games I’ve played in years. It is the slowest of burns, but 140 puzzles (~17 hours) in I am just continually shocked by how creative and radical and fun it is. It’s four dollars! It demands your whole brain but it is so worth it.
