1. Only the rich *currently* have access to the most expensive hospital chains
2. Dunno who runs it, but it's better than lunatic insurance companies whose literal job is to deny care to people
3. This is also the current system. I am rich and have great care and I can't ever fucking see anyone
For all Universal HC/Single Payer/M4A advocates.

What do the biggest, expensive hospital chains do. Do they opt out and only serve the rich ?

Who in the USA gov runs the program?

R U ok with having to see a primary care doc before you can see a specialist ?

Serves me right for feeling cautiously optimistic about democracy this past week

All day, many of you have been asking for a Cheney obituary from me. Get ready:
His Works Completed, Dick Cheney, Mass Murderer of Iraqis and American Democracy, Dies
As much as the Trumpists claim to disavow the War on Terror, they walk a path paved by the most powerful vice president in U.S. history.

An infuriating read that I completely agree with
My latest is about the latest revelations on the failed prosecution of Donald Trump, and why you should blame Merrick Garland more than the Supreme Court.
You Should Blame Merrick Garland
Garland's incompetence gave the Supreme Court the chance to set Trump free

Turning 45 soon. For my birthday, I want to help raise money for some kids whose parents were kidnapped by ICE here in the Chicagoland area. If the video isn’t of interest, I hope the GoFundMe is: www.gofundme.com/f/show-solid...

Just revisited The Hudsucker Proxy. Tim Robbins forgetting to deliver the blue envelope at the beginning and then getting ownership of the company because of that is like the Mavs trading Luca Doncic and then getting the #1 draft pick. I don’t care for it. Incompetence shouldn’t be rewarded

The governing party of the United States is shutting down the federal government to cover-up evidence the president sexually abused children so he can continue trying to implement dictatorship.

That's just a true statement about the world!

My main thought while watching F1: Don’t include a scene of one character training using the latest tech and another using makeshift equipment if you don’t want to be compared to Rocky IV and found lacking

The saga of the NYT's anti-Mamdani story taken from notorious white supremacist Jordan Lasker (they call him an "academic") gets even more amazing: Lasker's only impactful paper, which claimed white people are smarter, is infamous: it misused data so badly it got his tenured co-author fired. 2/

NANCY PELOSI: We must find the next generation of Democratic leadership. Young, charismatic and exciting candidates who can energize the party. People that voters love because they're not 80 years old and sold out to big capital.

America has never needed an effective opposition party as badly as it needs one now; instead we have the most feckless Democratic leaders of the past 100 years.

The way nobody can drive well anymore because of GPS — not just atrophied turn-by-turn navigation, but the way ppl no longer know the layouts of their town or the names of roads or what to do when the map doesn’t match the terrain — that’s what genAI is doing to communication skills and literacy

Predictably I loved Sinners, and was also incredibly heartened to see a filmmaker, post Marvel success, make something personal, original, and special outside of the comic book/franchise world. First MCU filmmaker who's actually managed to do that?

A tale of two movies:

Similar deal structures. Similar budgets.

One made $45M from 3300 screens, post pandemic, and won the weekend.

The other made $41M from 3600 screens pre-pandemic, and placed second.

And yet this is the coverage.

Let me say this again:

If a president can illegally deport someone, conspire with that country’s leader to abandon them to human rights abuses, and face no consequences, we are in a hellish authoritarian moment. What a fucking evil, illiberal government this is.
