Ahhh, yes... the Frank McCourt days 😮‍💨
When I began covering the Dodgers, their highest-salaried player was Ted Lilly.

The Dodgers replaced Kirby Yates with Edwin Diaz and Michael Conforto with Kyle Tucker.

Everyone else is basically back. Just need to re-sign Kiké Hernandez and report to spring training.

I’m going to be taking a break from Bluesky for a while.

There’s a lot of good here but increasingly this place just makes me sad and angry and, increasingly, foul tempered and mean. It’s not good for me or anyone else.

I’ll check DMs occasionally but otherwise I’ll be away for a bit. Take care.

Let Prior face Don Mattingly
Mark Prior is on the Dodgers staff? They should allow the coaches to pitch in extra innings.

We're now up to 31 runners left on base in this game.

Plus 7 runners thrown out on the bases.

So if I'm doing this math right, and my brain is half fried, that's 38 runners who HAVEN'T scored?

Seems hard.

In all the chaos, I would urge folks to remember that a lot of folks now don’t know when their next check will come.

The vast majority are good people who love this nation deeply, and many of them are still working despite not knowing when they’ll be paid

Have compassion.

Biden in office, GOP House and Senate: DEMOCRAT SHUTDOWN!!

Trump in office, GOP House and Senate: DEMOCRAT SHUTDOWN!!

Allowing one party to control the media narrative because they’re loud and dumb is absolutely ruining people’s understanding of how anything works.

I'm by all means the farthest thing from a Luddite, but I must say I have significant concerns about whether the human race can handle nuclear weapons, the Internet, artificial intelligence, and this kind of biotechnology all at the same time.

Trump is absolutely cratering in new Quinnipiac poll:

Overall approval: 38-54
Approval on economy: 39-56
Approval on trade: 39-54
On National Guard into cities: 42-55
On immigration, his "best" issue: 41-55

Trump is weak, unpopular, and failing. Treat him that way:
Trump/MAGA are trying to gaslight us into believing that anti-Jimmy Kimmel America is vast and deep, that MAGA's grip on the culture is unshakable, that mobilization is futile.

But this episode has demonstrated the opposite. Let's not forget it.

Thoughts on this:

This is true. White Houses lean hard on CIA to produce the results they want. (I saw this with friends I had there when Yeltsin was in power and Clinton and Gore did not want to hear anything about how Yeltsin and Russian democracy could be in trouble.)
But there's more to it.

Mostly agree with number 1, but I really wonder about Cheney. He was leaning *hard* on the analysts to draw certain conclusions, and it’s been reported that he was avid consumer of raw intelligence. It’s plausible he knew how thin some of the reporting was, like Curveball.

All Jackson needs to say is that Trump will live to 300 and he could become the first Fleet Admiral since Chester Nimitz
Trump officials have restored Ronny Jackson's military rank, after his Biden-era demotion from rear admiral to captain.

Democrats say they’re aghast

“The sacrosanct uniform code of military justice is now the uniform code of Trump,” former Rep. Jackie Speier told me. The code is “now meaningless.”

“I was, and still am, a retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral,” Jackson said, suggesting the misconduct allegations upheld against him were politically motivated.

I gotta push back when people (myself included at times) call everything not Epstein related a "distraction"
It's more than "a distraction " everything being done is being done with purpose to rip the fibers of democracy apart. There are real life implications, I wouldn't call those distractions.

Never heard of this specific NYT reporter until today, but she's already going on the block/mute list based on this alone.
Wild when New York Times reporters are or are not allowed to opine.

If you think antivax lunatic RFK Jr. "makes good points" about COVID and vaccination, you can say so.

If you think the Trump administration's egregious rights violations are bad, you keep that out of the paper, don't be biased.

What are we doing? Getting dumber.

25+ years of reality TV slop, 20+ years of social media disinfo-filled echo chambers, 15 years of half-baked efforts to overturn the ACA, 10 years of MAGA, and 5 years of TikTok influencer nonsense....
1991: 81% supported school vaccine mandates. Today: 51%.

What are we doing?!

Heck, I'm just working on how to emigrate/get out of this sinking ship of a country while I still can. I'm going to stay home and keep my head down until then.
Project 2025 did NOT anticipate Black people staying home like we are now.

Black Americans are holding this country together by a thread and

most of white America is so busy flailing and accusing us of being selfish,

y’all don’t even see how our strategy is keeping you safe.
