Good. I don't care how little gen AI is used. I don't care if it's just for placeholders that later get replaced or just for references or concept art.

Gen AI doesn't belong in ANY form of entertainment or creative space.

You can make your game great without it.

I get attached to friends easily. It sucks when you make friends and enjoy being around them and they suddenly stop logging in, stop hanging out.

I'm not saying they should spend every minute with me, it just sucks when people you enjoy being around... vanish... and sometimes don't return.

I retired Runescape back in 2017 and WoW in 2023.

Housing is cool and all, but if WoW is so good, why am I unretiring from a game where I'm hitting rocks for several hours?

The new Metroid locking MUSIC on the bike to a special Amiibo is exactly the kind of "what the fuck are you thinking" Nintendo decision that I'm boycotting.

Nintendo is not your friend. Hold them accountable.

Not trying to burst any bubbles; but Spotify is over.

They are airing ICE recruitment ads, the CEO has been investing in military/AI tech, they barely pay their artists; sometimes a percentage of a cent per stream, they promote “fake/AI artist” playlists, and there’s major concerns about data use.

It has never been more urgent than this, US folks. Call your reps NOW and lay it all down. We cannot let them take this all away from us.
Congress is attempting to fast track KOSA and more than a dozen bills that would restrict internet access, censor speech and increase surveillance under the guise of protecting children.

Committee hearings begin tomorrow.
Lawmakers to consider 19 bills for childproofing the internet
KOSA is back, along with more than a dozen other bills that will erode free speech and privacy in the name of protecting kids.

Tired of the "Well if you boycott Facebook because they steal your information you may as well live off-grid" argument.

You can actively choose not to support Zuck face by not buying a Quest Pro and buy an alternative.

This is why we should be against using ANY generative AI for voices in video games like Arc Raiders, The Finals, or Jump Space.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. And it only gets worse and normalized.

Pay actors to do your voices. It's not that fucking hard.
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

The USA is against nuclear more than solar and wind, despite being THE cleanest, safest form of energy.

But because of that one event that one time now it's dangerous and we should only use LNG and coal.

But putting miniature versions in their aircraft carriers is perfectly fine though.

Action rogue-like where you play as a fox named Aryx. Colorful, guns...?

...and it uses AI. Ignored.

I'm SO tired that more and more games (indie AND triple Ass) are resulting to AI.

Black Ops 7 has a REALLY dumb campaign with some horrible animations and writing. Calling cards are done with Ghibli style AI, and they use AI assets.

They HAVE the money and resources to not use AI. This is why it's a plague. It encourages lazy development.

Fuck Activision.
November 15, 2025 at 5:45 AM
I wish Steam would just ban games that use AI.

Give them a few months to develop assets, dub voices, etc that use AI and if they don't comply after X months, deplatform their game.

Keep (generative) AI out of video games.

Call of Duty, A game that costs hundreds of millions of dollars to make and still manages to skimp on costs by using AI for assets.

They managed to make an even more broken game.

Fuck generative AI. Activision is allowing laziness and broken games to be the new standard.

Also, full price game.

Normalizing AI the same way companies normalized loot boxes. If we don't HEAVILY push against it and constantly talk about it, it will get normalized.

I don't care if I'm annoying about it. I will say "I did not buy this because it has AI voice acting".
We don’t use generative AI at Strange Scaffold and I can confirm that a *lot* of other studios are not—whether indie or AAA.

Get outta here with this normalization bullshit.

NO generative AI, under any circumstances, is ethical.

VAs will throw other VAs under the bus, including during the SAG-AFTRA strike and against trans people. Just because a few select VAs agree to this GenAI clause does not mean it's a good thing.

Fuck off with this Gen AI shit.
"This use of GenAI is fine because VAs signed contracts to relinquish their rights".

Well yeah, have you seen what happens to those who don't want to sign off on this? Can you really call that consent when the alternative is losing (or never getting) a job?

Imagine taking a port from a game around two decades old, porting it to Steam with all the bugs that happen to every port, and making it overpriced.

And then after a Steam sale, raising the price unannounced by $25. No, they did not fix any of the bugs.

People are defending this as "Umm, actually, they use it like TTS!" If they need to be vague and cherry pick, it's not ethical.

Pay voice actors, every time. Use fucking voice modulation if you want to have this same "TTS" style sound.

You cannot sway me on this shit because it's scummy.
Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

Do you think Jack Black looks back at what he did to Kyle Gass and reflects that maybe what Kyle Gass said wasn't exactly outlandish?

Probably too busy taking every role from everyone in movies to care.

i think it's good actually that a videogame prominently featuring AI voice acting is finding success while my VA friends haven't found steady work in years and have their rates forcibly ground into dust over the few reliable gigs left

but hey the game is really fun right!!!!!!!
