Bluesky friends! I'm not very active 'round these parts, but since we never know when That Other Website might implode, thought I'd at least get a presentation thread going. Name's Lucile, and I've been working in the games industry for 18+ years. Here are some of my credited titles:

In The King is Watching, developed by Hypnohead and published by @tinybuildgames.bsky.social, translators are NOT in the credits. The game is available in 10 languages including English.

After the Game Awards fanfare, it would be easy to assume that gameloc crediting is a solved issue, but it's not. This screenshot perfectly encompasses the issue of why supporting #TranslatorsInTheCredits is important:

Some localization agencies out there try to do everything to hide who they work with, mainly because they fear their "resources" being "poached". Not @locquest.bsky.social The trick? Treat them like human beings, with kindness, as a collaborator, not as a resource. Simple, yet effective.
⭐️ Our 2025 Collaborators of the Year ⭐️

THANK YOU to the talented professionals we get to work with on a day-to-day basis, who live and breathe these games and believe in the human aspect of localization just as much as we do.

Here’s to many more exciting projects in 2026 🥂

If you need any more reason to support the project, Yarn Spinner also offers a robust localization framework! Some of my colleagues worked on YS exports and were very happy with the results.

As it's a hot topic right now: We do not use any Gen AI or LLMs in any of our games & are not planning to.

So far its implementations have felt far from "necessary" & come with a myriad of ethical/environmental concerns.

But most importantly, we enjoy every step of the creative process without it.

🥹The biggest thank you to the 46,735 of you who wishlisted the game.

These are some of the games that inspired some of Nom Nom's features👇

Here's the end of our credits roll on Puzzle Spy International. Every single thing you see in the game, I created all myself. (Or we wrote together, or designed, etcetera. The music was all made by a guy who lives down the street.)

Are you a gamedev who's not using any GenAI in your pipeline? I'm currently compiling a list of such statements, either in the press, social media, or directly through your credit roll. Feel free to add more examples below.

Since it's time for the Yearly Localization Discourse ™️ on the other app, let's not forget about this TL from My Hero Academia that everyone called "cringe" and "unfaithful to the source" until someone pulled out the original JP

It's true: language service providers offering machine translation post-editing and companies hiring them KNOW they are delivering subpar translations, but don't care.
Sometimes they will require human translation for "high visibility content" but it's just painting a fancy facade on a ruin.
actual quote from a language company executive: “Why should we pay for higher quality translations when people will happily pay us for poorer quality translations?”
"ai is going to take your job" was just the capitalists admitting they can give us trash and we have to take it

Deadlock's recent(ish) UI and specifically the character selector refresh is probably one of my favorites in recent history.

The subtle animations. The unique typeface choices per character (Mo and Krill both have one!)

So much flair and style oozing from this design, freaking love it
