Sorry I think using AI for placeholders is also bad
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I know you only care about finished art but placeholder art also needs to be made by a human being who also needs to be paid for that

But placeholder midjourney slop cuts that artist out

They're making us a "Last Best Final Offer" we can (and must) refuse.

Good news! I was able to find it for you - because it was LEAKED to media outlets by the companies themselves ahead of our most recent “confidential” meeting!

And here’s the SAG-AFTRA comparison document:

One of the only times I’ll willingly link to a Facebook post, to signal boost a much more through explanation of the current #voiceover #videogame contract up for negotiation, from a far more educated and experienced colleague than myself:

We *CANNOT* mess this up.

Hi everyone. This is a LONG POST with regard to the current Video Game Strike, the “Last Best and Final Offer” from the Studios, and the fear and vitriol I’m seeing on social platforms, which,...

I cannot scream loudly enough that we are ALREADY WORKING GIGS signed to a temporary IMA that we support and want. Over 220 projects SINCE THE STRIKE BEGAN have agreed to it!

But whatever deal we officially sign replaces ALL of that, whether it has what we want or not.

Why would we accept less???
To wit:

Over 205 different NEW videogame projects have already begun under the (proposed) new contract that SAG-AFTRA has painstakingly pushed for over the last year!

The videogame industry is not being blockaded. We’re pushing back against AI clauses that *some* companies still refuse to remove.
We are SO close to a deal. We've moved as far in their direction as most of us are comfortable. They are still holding to a couple proposals that we simply cannot accept. They could agree to our latest counter, end this strike, and put us back to work at any time. #SAGAFTRAstrong #LevelUpTheContract

A lot of people in the industry are struggling right now, it’s true. Many of us are desperate to return to work.

That very desperation is being used against us to 1) sow discord and disagreement, & 2) demand that we sign a subpar deal so that work can resume, “or else”.

The pressure is the point.
So, it seems some voice actors are saying that the current offer being put forward to SAG AFTRA is good and that they should vote on it.

I'm hearing some conflicting points, though, about the actual quality of the deal? That it may not, in fact, be good enough?

Issue #2 (among many)?

The right to use generated AI voices - including yours - to scab for you during a future strike.

Yes, YOU the PERSON retain the right to go on strike. But your Digital Replica is allowed to keep working (or replace you). Unless you wanna *pay the company* to rescind that. :)

Regarding today's latest batch of really lazy strike-busting propaganda.

There's a LOT wrong with "the chart", but this bit in particular I truly love because it makes the dishonesty of the author shockingly, inarguably clear.

Don't believe the hype.

While this graphic has been making the rounds online recently, no one seems to know where this graphic comes from. Unfortunately, as was explained by SAG-AFTRA’s lawyers... at the last info meeting, the charts above is not accurate.

Hey. I'm gonna be real. To all the rich VAs saying "this strike needs to end" because your bottom line is starting to hurt:

Suck it up. Those of us at the bottom who have a hell of a lot more to lose are running Uber Eats etc to make it through this.

The strike will end when we get our deal.

Allow me to list just a few.

It suggests that ICDRs require consent regardless of the massive loopholes surrounding their creation, missing the myriad of ways AI voices can be made without them needing your consent or to pay you.

Love how these people side with the multimillion dollar company who refused to sign an agreement re: A.I., then fired the actors who started a wildcat strike.

"But they already have A.I. protections!"

No, Hoyo doesn't. The recording studios they CURRENTLY contract do, which is *not secure enough.*
LIKE LOOK AT THIS INSANE POST. THEY WATCHED A COMPANY RECAST VOICE ACTORS TRYING TO GET PROTECTIONS AND PAY AND THIS IS THEIR MASSIVE TAKE AWAY??????

If anyone is seeing some kind of chart supposedly showing the advantages and/or gains for VAs from management’s “last best and final”, you should know the following:

- This did not come from the union.
- It is DEEPLY misleading.
- The fact that it’s circulating now is extremely suspect.

All I’ll say:
Current/future working actors deserve the most foolproof & future-proof protections we can possibly negotiate. Full stop.
Except it isn’t a full stop. Legislators are trying right now to take away state AI & labor protections. We cannot assume we’ll always be able to count on these.
