He's absolutely right. Maybe Westminster should kick Scotland out of the union, to restore their own security, and let us deal with things independently. That would show us

Labour’s attempts to brand the Scottish National Party a threat to the UK’s national security is a drastic escalation of Labour’s anti-independence rhetoric, argues @adamramsay.bsky.social

In 2004, Parisian police were conducting a training exercise in the french catacombs and found, after moving past a desk and a tape playing audio of snarling dogs, a fully functional movie theater and bar. When they returned 3 days later, the equipment was gone, with a note: “Do not try to find us.”

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

I'm not against ID cards in principle. Just have no confidence in this gov to control how data is used by contractors.

I'm still exceedingly pessimistic, but the fact that Palantir ruled themselves out is the first glimmer of hope that there will be restrictions. Otherwise, they'd be all over it
Wtaf? "Software giant Palantir snubs ‘undemocratic’ digital ID scheme". This would actually be funny if we weren't living in an emergent technofascism powered by the likes of Palantir...

My wife is German and they've had ID cards for decades. Data sharing is limited and it makes life easier for everyone.

That's not what's being discussed here. Presumably 'Digital' means that it'll be on your phone, which also just happens to suck up all your other personal data including location

1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it).

But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that

Observation from driving the length of the UK this week.

1. Flags on bridges only start appearing ~Birmingham and stop again at Devon. This is very much a middle England thing
2. The flags are around 80% St George's Cross to 20% Union flag
3. Of the union flags, about half of them are upside down
