Yes, defend SNAP, but making econometric arguments about it saving other costs or increasing productivity is losing the plot.

As Elaine Brown said, "Because we are so used to the capitalist construct, it doesn’t occur to us that we have a human right to eat; because if you don’t eat you will die."

I should note: by my count, this makes at least four clergy members *that I know of* who have been shot with pepper balls or rubber bullets fired by ICE/DHS agents in recent weeks — two Presbyterians, two Methodists and a UCCer.
Big year for photos of clergy enduring pain while protesting ICE.

It is impossible to imagine people allowing this to go on (or even participating in it within the government) if he was ordering the murder without any process of French citizens or Brits or Australians on boats no matter what they were alleged to be doing.
Trump: "I don't think we're necessarily going to ask for a declaration of war, I think we're just gonna kill people that are bringing drugs into our country. We're going to kill them. They're going to be, like dead."

Adelita Grijalva won her election to Congress nearly a month ago, but Mike Johnson still hasn't sworn her in. Why the delay? Perhaps it's because Grijalva would cast the final vote needed to release the Epstein files.

Wow. Just wow.

Madison’s No King’s rally doubled in size from the last one. People want their democracy, not a monarchy.

Way to go, Badgers!

This is an international crime intentionally committed now for the third time. We need a presidential crimes commission to investigate all of this when Democrats retake control of government.

Wealth inequality in the United States has increased substantially since 1989.

As of Q1 2025, the top 0.1% own more than five times as much wealth as the bottom 50%.

In 1989, the bottom 50% held 3.5% of total wealth. In 2025, they hold just 2.5%.

Did you know the attorneys general for Missouri, Kansas, and Idaho actually made the argument that fewer pregnant teens is an injury to the state in a lawsuit designed to ban access to birth control via the mail?

Super important piece on how states can help fill the gaps created by RFK's anti-vax policies. We desperately need RFK out of the job, where he's doing immense damage to public health, but Dem Governors can take effective steps here if they want to. (So can R Governors! Not sure they'll want to.)
This is good: With Trump/RFK destroying CDC, JB Pritzker's officials are exploring the possibility of buying Covid vaccines from manufacturers and distributing them in-state themselves, source tells me.

Dem govs must step up and fill the void.

New piece from me:

Trump’s Decapitation of CDC Takes Darker Turn—and Hands Dems a Weapon
Illinois’s J.B. Pritzker is leading a charge other Democratic governors should take up: In our America, we’ll make sure public health systems remain strong.
