I know we all say “this is the stupidest timeline” a lot but seriously this is the stupidest timeline
WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

It is not treason to call out the crimes committed by your own nation. It is not unpatriotic to be against brazen lawlessness and outright thuggery being committed by your military. It takes loving America to refuse to accept the hideous blight on the world that it has become.

The weirdest thing about Americans is how many of them think their laws apply to every person in the world.
But they're certain other countries' laws don't apply to them.

I've said this before and I'll say it again.
It would only take a tiny handful of Republican Congress members or senators to stop the slide of America toward authoritarian fascism, but nope. They're all in.

Congress has the power and responsibility to authorize the use of military force and declare war. Congress has a duty of oversight. Congress must serve as a check, not a rubber stamp, to the President.

The fact that Maduro is a dictator who committed grave abuses does not suspend the Constitution.

The President's powers come from the Constitution and Congress. There's no third source.

If neither grant a power—and, more importantly, if either prohibit it—then the President doesn't have it. Full stop.

Trump: "Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed. Sounds a little strange, but President Putin was very generous in his feeling toward Ukraine succeeding.”

Zelenskyy deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for not punching Trump in the nose for saying the country that invaded Ukraine was being "very generous."

Ah yes let us wait and see how we should proceed with this now leaderless nation
The most ignorant regime ever.
Please explain how you invade another sovereign nation, kidnap its leader, and have to "wait and see" what we will do next!?!
Is anyone out there who can make this make sense?
I'll wait...........

The Constitution is clear:
Congress has the power and responsibility to authorize the use of military force and declare war. Congress has a duty of oversight. Congress must serve as a check, not a rubber stamp to the President.

On these counts, Congress has failed.

#USA is not at war with #Venezuela unless and until it is authorized by an act of Congress.

Until then, it is an unconstitutional action of 47 involving the DoD in an illegal move in Venezuela.

The people of USA have not authorized a war. Far from it.

and this time they are more bloodthirsty, more incompetent, and less interested in even pretending to justify it

more than twenty years later and somehow we went backwards

Congress needs to call an emergency session about immediate impeachment and removal of Donald J. Trump. Invading a foreign nation and capturing its president is a clear violation of the Constitution.

If the House Republicans had any guts, they'd hold an emergency impeachment vote on Trump today.
If the Senate Republicans had any guts, they'd convict Trump of violating the Constitution tomorrow.
The Constitution means nothing it if it can be ignored with impunity.

i'm gonna be blunt. every member of the united states military participating in the illegal coup against venezuela is committing treason against their oath to uphold the constitution and should be penalized appropriately.

no ifs, ands, or buts.

@repfields.bsky.social the people of Louisiana and America need Congress to do the work to get a binding war powers resolution in place. We need all our Democratic representatives consistently speaking out in Congress, to legacy media, and online
I voted for a war powers resolution to end hostilities against Venezuela without congressional authorization, which failed on a near party line vote.

Congress cannot stay silent while this president ignores the rule of law.

The United States just decided that it's perfectly acceptable for a foreign government to invade a country in order to remove their terrible leader and take them to be criminally tried back in said foreign government's own country.

So...any volunteers?
