After having heard The Message, I gotta say, I didn't expect one of hip hop's landmark records to have a six minute soul tribute to Stevie Wonder in which someone sings about dreaming of him in an odd way that makes me kind of question if the person singing wants to sleep with him. album's good tho

This year has been fantastic for music, to a point where I feel like by the end of the year, it'll hold up next to 2024's lineup. Sure, mainstream music has just kind of suffered, but I never paid much attention to that musical area anyway. And all of the slightly smaller artists are going ALL OUT.

I was listening to the new Shallowater album, and when that feedback started in the middle of the song, my jaw just fell open. It's *really* good, holy shit.

I was playing Here in the Pitch in the car with someone, and in the middle of Better Hate, they said "this sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks". At the time I was a little bit annoyed because I adore that album, but also, I have to admit, they're a little bit right.

Drone music & its subgenres are really strange because if you don't listen to it, the idea of it is absolutely ridiculous. I can tell someone that Feedbacker by Boris is one of the best pieces of music ever recorded, but when they go to listen to it, all they hear is a band doing a sound check.

This is still one of the best songs of the year for me. Technically it's a 2024 song, since the single came out in December, but the album released in January so I'm counting it for 2025. The vocals are fantastic, and the shifts between all of the sections are so good

shitty lo-fi black metal cassettes are the best cassettes to have because you don't need to worry about doing extra stuff to get better audio quality when playing them. because they're going to sound like shit no matter what.

kaatayra is the best metal artist ever. they have some pretty close competitors but i don't think any other musician has quite matched the magic that is all of their albums. there's some other atmospheric black metal albums that use similar sounds, but none that do it quite like kaatayra.
