Sorry if it's weird to keep using this as a base, but our Switch's left joycon latch is borked so it's not usable out of dock, and we need money for another Switch or a Switch 2 as we can't really wait for repairs with needing to go out soon to somewhere we might have to wait a while.

I've seen this kind of thing follow similar trajectories on Twitter and Tumblr in the past decade, and it's basically people jumping at the chance to take a maximalist moral stance and declare it publicly and loudly. Doing this invariably leads to bad-faith interpretations of media.

It's the same impulse that could lead people in fandom to get treated like they'd been caught with CSAM because they'd reblogged horny art of a character without checking their age on a fandom wiki. If you don't immediately perform extreme shock and disgust, you're equivocating and also suspect.

It's startling on bsky because generally this site has been way more over that. But there are still people who see situations like this as an opportunity to declare that they're good and moral and not at all fooled by the devil's tricks, which they have zero tolerance for.

It stems from the fact a child was at one point in the game; she didn't do anything and nothing was done to her, and they ultimately decided her role worked better with an adult anyway. No one under 20 has been in a build for years though, nor has any storefront indicated this was a concern.

The only time I’ve seen this before was with Rule of Rose and the insinuation that it contained explicit depictions of CSA and lesbianism. It was so popularly believed that it led to the game kind of tanking. For this to happen now though is shocking I agree
