If Weiss had more skill she could have spiked the CECOT segment much earlier in the process because it didn‘t reveal enough new information about a widely reported story. This would also have been a terrible decision, but would at least display some knowledge of how things actually work.

This is a very astute observation. I hadn't thought about Keith Kellogg, he just disappeared from the scene. It makes perfect sense that Putin would want to fainthearted guy like Witkoff doing the negotiations. 🗽

I am sure the 60 Minutes report on CECOT was very well done, but what makes the decision to kill it even more damning is that CBS was hardly out on a limb on this story. It has been extremely well documented and reported by many journalists.

Israel Defense Forces killed five Palestinians, including a baby, who were in a school that sheltered displaced people in Gaza City on Friday, hospital officials have said. The attack brings the number of Palestinians killed by Israel to 400 since the October ceasefire took effect.
Israeli troops fired over the ceasefire line which they have withdrawn to, killing the Palestinians and wounding a number more, the Palestinian civil defence said in a statement.
