Collecting #AquaticHyphomycete spores is easy. They get caught up in large numbers in river foam. Foam can be scooped up into a jar. @funaction.bsky.social @britmycolsoc.org.uk @panspecieslisting.bsky.social @msafungi.bsky.social

The Scarce Fungus Weevil lays its eggs only in Cramp Balls (or King Alfred's cakes) - fungi that grow on dead Ash wood. With Ash dieback & the felling of Ash trees threatening their habitat, the beetle's future is uncertain.🌳 Read the #UKFungusDay blog: www.ukfungusday.co.uk/anecessarywe...

Whilst wet weather might not be everyone’s cup of tea, Kew’s Mycologists are celebrating this rainy #FungiFriday, with hopes it will instigate some welcome fungal activity!

Many fungi use rain to spread their spores, such as often-over-looked bird’s nest fungi, also known as “splash cups”.
