Ich habe mit @tageins.at über den Aufstieg der radikalen/extremen Rechten und deren Normalisierung gesprochen – und darüber, was liberale Demokratien tun können oder tun sollten.

The manuscript I’ve been working on for 1.5 years, which my prof told me in April to "submit soon" and which I used for my methods comps, was finally close to ready for submission. But then I decided, why not make this more interesting and replicate it with a completely different dataset and DV?

Frau Schnabl an Herrn Köppel, warum die Weltwoche RussiaToday und Desinformation abdruckt.

Köppel: "JA WEIL DAS JOURNALISMUS IST!"

Na dann wäre das geklärt. #dasGespraech

Vielleicht kann jemand Frau Fürst fragen, wie genau Trump denn das Land "wieder auf Vordermann" bringt?

The organising principle of the “Epstein class” is patriarchy, which doesn’t necessarily depend on left-right political ideology to operate

Maybe Galloway could critically analyse the role of, e.g., neoliberalism and its impact on the way we live, rather than claiming, without any data to back this up, that "There’s likely a one in three chance that an attractive young woman without a college degree outside a major city is on OnlyFans".
Seems like Galloway is vaguely suggesting women are somehow the problem too?

Writing my next piece for the Hungarian Observer this weekend and can’t even decide what to focus on. The NSS mentioning Hungary? Orbán’s lies about Trump pledging financial protection? The latest child abuse scandal? Orbán trying to shift power to the presidency and switch to the role of president?

"The American national security strategy echoes the language of far-right parties"

... well, maybe that's because ... it was written by ... a far-right administration...?

Today’s International Human Rights Day is the perfect day to plug this article by our former professor and head of department, which shows that restrictions on abortion rights are the canary in the coalmine, foreshadowing further erosion of physical integrity rights (a class of human rights).

I'm not surprised to see Hungary here, but Austria is... new.

Then again, the key figure in the 🇦🇹 far-right FPÖ, MEP Harald Vilimsky, has spent years cultivating closer ties with MAGA Republicans, attending multiple CPACs and Trump's Madison Square Garden rally last October. Seems to have paid off.
Austria, Hungary, Italy, and Poland are listed as countries the U.S. should “work more with…with the goal of pulling them away from the [European Union].”

The longer NSS also proposes a “Core 5,” or C5, made up of the U.S., China, Russia, India and Japan for the handling of geopolitical issues.

Concerned for this generation of American students who still believe (or are made to believe) in the median voter theorem and think that THIS *points at everything* is centrism

In a previous life, towards the end of Trump I, I worked as a policy analyst trainee in the European Parliament’s Transatlantic Unit (focusing on EU relations with the US, Canada, and the UN, but really just the US at that point).

I can only imagine what working there must be like these days. 🤯

Echt jetzt @nzz.ch?

Also, another step towards the normalisation of the far-right extremist Martin S., here merely described as "Austrian ideologue", and the proliferation of the term "hard-right", a label that virtually no researcher of the far right uses.
Another step toward the normalization of “remigration” which Musk has been doing his best to accelerate.

I'd love to say disrespect and inappropriate behaviour from students toward female TAs/instructors/professors isn't a big issue in academia, but I've had students cross boundaries with disrespectful comments and inappropriate questions, and was greeted with "Hi Queen" the other day, so there's that

This seems incredible to read, as it could come straight out of an Orbán 2015-16 speech, but this has actually been a dominant position within the broader U.S. Right for decades. 🧵
Europeans are waking up this morning to find the new US National Security Strategy (quietly) released. And what it has to say on Europe could not be clearer. On the „stark prospect of civilizations erasure“ for example. 👇

I worked in community management and content moderation in a former life, so that makes me ineligible for a future U.S. visa while living in the U.S. on a U.S. visa?

Galloway constantly yaps about an "aspirational vision of masculinity" on various podcasts yet this is all he can come up with.

To me, his vision isn't necessarily more progressive, maybe just superficially less toxic (but still does nothing to break up gender hierarchies and men's dominant roles).
