Merz sagt, man habe die Anzahl der Asylbewerber in Deutschland „in etwa halbiert“, und er erwarte, dass Trump diese „Kurskorrektur“ anerkennen und begrüßen werde. Dann wiederholt er seine Bitte an Trump, doch Deutschland als Partner zu sehen, wenn dieser die EU nicht möge.
