No undocumented immigrants are getting Obamacare, Medicare or Medicaid. Only a sliver of the spending on their healthcare comes through ERs, which are required by law to give emergency care to everyone.

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

Ultimately, while there are always going to be some points of continuity between events, people who try to link Trump to Bush and Reagan, arguing he’s an obvious continuation or progression of bad conservative presidents, are engaged in another, slightly more sophisticated form of normalizing Trump
