My dad was in the RN in WW2, my mum was bombed out (twice), two of my uncles were in the army, another was in the RAF, my grandad was an ARP warden.
I don’t remember any of them wearing a poppy, ever.
The people who coujd actually remember WW2 didn’t want to be reminded.
