Glorious hike with a truly lovely human today. Appreciate the moments of levity despite all the shit in the world.

The true number of infected is likely *much much* higher due the relatively long incubation period averaging 11-12 days.

Even then early measles symptoms mimic other common viral illness and most won't think it's measles until a rash develops - typically 14 days post exposure.

I appreciate the ACLU as much as the next person. But the ongoing "know your rights" content they are pushing feels out of touch. Previously held "rights" no longer exist. "How to resist and avoid arrest" see more pertinent. The rules of the game have changed and we must adjust accordingly.

I officially have 4 friends who have tangible plans and a date to emigrate from the US due to political environment. Know indirectly of friends of friends who've left the country.

I haven't seen much reporting on it yet but curious anecdotally - Do y'all know anyone who has or is fleeing the US?

An AI misgendered me after making post-publication changes to subheadlines in a national media outlet.

Not on my 2025 bingo card but here we are. What a time to be alive.

(After phone call with the standards editor today it has been fixed)

we’re starting to see evidence of news outlets retroactively detransitioning contributors to their publications — as in, stories were published under correct pronouns initially but have quietly changed to misgender the authors.

I had an article published about me in Business Insider years ago that intentionally did not use pronouns. The author knew mine were they/them. Business Insider recently added pronouns to the top bit

I'm now officially NYT he/him and Business Insider she/her. www.businessinsider.com/i-make-tons-...
