We are an MLIS capstone team working with the GAMER Group at the University of Washington seeking input on how TTRPG players find games, or want to find games. If you are a TTRPG player, designer, or both, please consider taking our research survey: uwashington.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

One of my favorite podcasts is talking about Tolkien! Guess it's time for another reread.
With a knock on your door, a kindly wizard invites you to join us on Shelved By Genre's LORD OF THE YEAR, in which we will consider the popular but contested works of JRR Tolkien, kicking things off with a long rumination upon the first four chapters of THE HOBBIT: rangedtouch.com/2026/01/02/t...

I will not buy a game made with AI. There is no amount of anticipation I could have that will not immediately sour if I found out the game was made using AI.

Here's my dragon game hot take of the day: put classes before ancestries in your books. It's the thing that most significantly defines your character mechanically, and in my experience it's what everyone decides on first.

Apocalypse World is profoundly important work. It has shaped the landscape of roleplaying games for over a decade, and with this third edition, I'm sure it'll continue to shape it for a decade more. Clever, gripping, and human. There's still a few hours to snag your kickstarter copy!
Here it is. The final 24 hours. You've helped coax banked embers into a steady flame. Tell me, what is one thing you'll bring with you into What-Comes-Next? Seeds? Thread? A good kitchen knife? What will you make of what's left? Together, let's light up the world.

"So what do you do, just read books all day?"
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

I've worked in libraries for years now, but it's still wild to me that if my local library doesn't have a book I want to read, I can ask and they will find and mail a copy to my local branch, at no cost to me. I'm reading a comic right now that had to get on a boat to get to me.

This is such a cool idea, and the book looks great! Very excited to pick up a copy when I have the money to spare.
Carved in Stone is officially out!

In this comprehensive setting guide you'll be able to see, touch, taste, hear and smell your way through everything that modern-day scholars currently know of the enigmatic culture of the Picts, from the perspective of someone living in the late 7th Century.
