Just left Cornwall to start a new adventure in Scotland. Retired educator. Cider socialist, European, Stoke city supporter, golfer, guitarist, fly fisherman and hill walker.
If we get rid of tuition fees and get more Oli Duggans it will be money very well spent. Best contribution to QT in years.
He is correct, education, be it academic, vocational or hands-on (apprenticeships) benefits society. This country has, over the decades, placed less value on education in my opinion.

Abolish all fee paying educational institutions and fund them adequately. This is how a real meritocracy looks.
“The combined tuition fees of the entire Question Time panel would not cover my cost for 1 year of uni. Is that fair?”
Oli Dugmore

It’s absolutely NOT fair. This outrageous scandal must end

I suspect that in the coming weeks, Wes Streeting will regret having been Mandelson's friend& cheerleader
Gonna posting this a lot over the coming weeks.

The lack of an alternative is the disasterous consequence of the labour party being captured by a venal clique whose guiding light was Mandelson.
Starmer's political authority is crumbling by the day. Hard to see how he digs himself out of this one...
@jeremycorbyn.bsky.social : "The question is, fundamentally, one for the Prime Minister.. I cannot believe that when he was about to appoint Mandelson he wasn't made fully aware of all of Mandelsons record.. he would have known.."

He's deluded. The bookies have the greens to win. It's not a straight labour/reform fight.

Maybe Starmer use his "special relationship" to counsel Trump about the murder and repression he is unleashing in the the US. He might also want to mention Israel to Trump who continue (with US weapons) to terrorise the region. No wonder Iran seeks to fully arm itself.

"Excellent relationship....tackling global issues...". These are lies based on either a staggering level of delusion or told to grievously mislead. Ukraine and climate change being just 2 examples of where the US is working against our national interests.

I hope human rights will be on the agenda for Keir Starmer's China visit

Xi Jinping needs to raise serious concern's about Starmer's govt's record - criminalisation of protest, long incarceration without trial, complicity in the Palestinian genocide, etc.

He's gone and done it again. Starmer's had a blinder this week and then this. Abject surrender to a man who has grievously impugned the heroism of our forces who answered the call of NATO. Disgraceful!

Remember Biden's disastrous "aid pier" to Gaza that broke apart the first time it faced a bit of rough weather. Trump's "Board of Peace" is no more serious as a solution for rebuilding Gaza.

I explain why here: www.middleeasteye.net/opinion/trum...
Trump’s 'Board of Peace' is the nail in Gaza’s coffin
Feckless European leaders like Starmer let Israel and the US tear up international law in Gaza. Now, faced with Greenland and Ukraine, they are suffering from a severe case of buyer’s regret

And here we go again, another dreadful decision by this inept government.
If you’re planning on scrapping regulations, why not. What could possibly go wrong? 🤔
NEW 🚨 Labour has scrapped the much-awaited Audit Reform Bill, aimed at stopping corporate giants from gambling with the economy... back to square one, it seems.

And they're currently floating, amongst other politically suicidal policies, the taking away of our right to a jury trial and the taking away of the right to vote for millions in the upcoming local elections. A quite staggering level of political incompetence.
'Another Government insider put Labour’s continuing polling woes more succinctly: “What’s the point in clearing off the barnacles if the whole boat is listing?”'

Quite so. Apparently, Starmer's working on a new mission.

Hahahahahaha...
