Yeah, British flapjacks are not remotely like American ones. They’re not quite like granola bars, they’re not as crunchy but they’re DENSE. I love me a raspberry jam and coconut one!

The world is going to hell so we are rewatching one of my favourite films tonight.

Drop Dead Gorgeous just landed back on streaming (paramount plus) so I get to relive the entire masterpiece along with this— possibly the funniest moment in the movie?

You’ve heard of comfort watches, now I’ve got a comfort pod! Only 20 minutes into the first episode and already delighted— Becky and Kev are terrific hosts whose enthusiasm and love for the topic shines thru! Give it a whirl, horror fans!

This is gonna help me get thru autumn and winter 🔨🍁🍂❄️☃️

Gosh and what a beautifully written book, too. Great adaptation that I suspect is gonna age well, and become a spooky season sleepover classic.

You gotta!! Thanks for doing this, Matt— it’s proper cool xx

Omg this is a fabulous idea! Please share photos when it’s up and running 💕🎃 I’m also thinking… I wonder if your local Friends of the Library has movies they’d either donate or do you a great deal on? Just an idea!

This forever endeared me to Dakota Johnson.

That’s the best compliment, I feel that way when I listen to pods too! 💕

Another excellent episode with a delightful guest in @gemseddon.bsky.social Loved the clever intro, giggled evilly like an idiot listening to it. This book and movie was a big part of my early teens. Go give it a listen!!

A beautiful poster for the film MISERY (1990). At the top of the image, we can see snow-capped mountains in the evening light. Working down the page, the picture descends into deep, dark blues with the title 'Misery' in red type-writer style font. At the very bottom, enclosed in the darkness, is a house. It's wooden frame and snowy roof should look homely, but instead it's laden with menace. One downstairs window is lit, shining like a cry from the depths...

Ahhh thank you so much, Elizabeth! Had such fun recording this with Johnny ☺️

Sent this to my family chat this AM as I woke in the night, panicked and feeling so lost and untethered from the things that make me feel creativity, joy and humanity.

My incredibly talented sister (@gemseddon.bsky.social) shared this incredibly brilliant letter by Kurt Vonnegut. Important things for us all to practice, remember, and to share with others!

Omg Matt! This sounds hideous and also classic “night before a trip” behaviour from the universe! Hope the rest of FF goes smoothly, mate, looking forward to your coverage! 🎉

Thank you for the words! 🥰

When I got the ARC for this I squealed— a new Sarah Gailey novel is an *event* — I’ve just started and cannot wait to see where this goes… (somewhere dark and brilliant, I suspect). Recommend ordering or placing on hold now!

And they also have THE BEST recommendations! One of our regulars is so helpful and happy to suggest books that other kids her age might enjoy. Our job— very cool 🎉

It’s got to be. But I have zero interest in listening to a podcast written and — presumably — hosted by AI. They’re forgetting the inherent appeal of pods to those who subscribe; I love my regular rotation because of the PEOPLE not necessarily the topic. Cannot imagine how AI can replicate this.

Absolutely loved chatting it up with the lovely @johnnyrestall.bsky.social about all-things Misery.

Such a delight to be able to talk about Stephen King on my 4th podcast appearance! 😊

Listen now and subscribe to The Thriller Cabinet!! It’s dead good!

Whoooooooo boy. Also a time to blatantly self-promote! 🎉

I love writing film criticism and I don’t often get the chance, but I’m always ready! ✍️

Went down a rabbit hole this morning: looks like a critic for a paying outlet may have faked a ton of reviews with ChatGPT. No matter how much you feed an LLM, it can’t hide that it, like the critic in question, hasn’t actually seen the film.

AI is for writers who don’t like to write but want to have written, and readers who don’t like to read but want to have read.

Into the sea with the whole miserable joyless fucking lot of them.
sketchesbyboze.bsky.social
People are reading AI-generated synopses of books and then claiming they read 100 books in a week. This is how the abolition of books began in Fahrenheit 451: classics were condensed into five-minute summaries for those too busy to do the reading. Later came the burnings.
