Scarecrow Video Psychotronic Challenge, Day 3

Simian Cinema: “Grab a six-pack of bananas and watch a primate film. Something…apeeling.”

Humans are also primates, so virtually any movie could count for this challenge ;-) But this one has a man with a gorilla heart!

By the way, if anyone is looking to spice up their movie watching this Halloween season, I recommend Psychotronic Challenge, put on by Scarecrow Video.

I'm currently watching Anaconda (1997) for their day two challenge.

This almost brought a tear to my eye. A small but important victory.

Kaleb Horton, again: "It's sad how many RTs you get by saying the world is ending instead of admitting the scary truth that it's not and there's work to do in it."

Wow, The Boy and the Heron looks insane in 4K
A trick photograph of a young man sitting at a table with his arm resting on the table; another young man is positioned immediately behind the arm and gripping the arm through the bottom of his own shirt. This makes it appear as though the second man is a bird perched in the arm of the first man.

Lots of great stuff happening in #Asheville today. Definitely make some time to swing by this great charity event. They have an awesome raffle going and some great food vendors.

Llamas are what happens when God looks at sheep and thinks "These aren't nearly ridiculous enough."
Photograph of two llamas at Vinacunca in Peru. Both have been adorned with plastic sunglasses and are decked out with multi-colored pom-poms and other fabric arts. But the llamas look plenty ridiculous without these decorations, with their long, knobly legs and sleepy eyes.

Happy Happy Death Day Day to those who celebrate!
datesinmovies.bsky.social
Sep 18th 2017 - A hungover Tree Gelbman wakes up on her birthday in a strange dorm room. On her way to a party that evening, she is murdered, and immediately wakes up, starting the day again in a time loop.

📽️📅 Happy Death Day (2017)
3 Screenshots from the movie "Happy Death Day" (2017): First, a blonde woman with wavy hair sits on a bed in a dimly lit dorm room with posters on the wall, looking tense, subtitle reads “Am I in a dorm room?” Second, a hand holds a smartphone showing the lock screen at 9:01 on Monday, September 18, with notifications visible, the phone resting above a cluttered desk with papers and objects. Third, a figure in a dark hoodie wearing a creepy baby-faced mask stands outside at night near a construction light, partially illuminated against the shadows.

as usual, Margaret eloquently summarizes the thoughts that have been drifting around in my head this week. @margaret.bsky.social
I'm not afraid of the fallout of last week's news because everything bad that might come out of it was already being planned. They've already been scapegoating trans people for everything bad in this country and are trying to criminalize our existence. They've already been talking about declaring "Antifa" a domestic terror organization. They're already funding a genocide (and were before the current administration) and they were already ramping up ICE infrastructure as fast as they possibly can. I don't know that there's any further acceleration available. The fascist pedal is already to the fascist metal.
That's not to say that things aren't going to get worse: they are going to get worse. They're just, as far as I can tell, getting worse as fast as they already can. Our actions aren't going to someh convince the fascists to get even more
fascist. There's an odd sort of freedom in that realization. We can—and should-collectively stop saying shit like "oh if you behave a certain way, it will just embolden the fascists." They're already as bold as they can get.

I'll say it. Robert Redford was probably the most kissable man in Hollywood. Not the hottest, but the highest on the intersection of beautiful and non-threatening.

We Have Enough Dead Friends
BY LENA OLEANDERSON

Come over. The doors are open,
my flat's a mess and so is my heart
but the doors are always open.
Come over. I will make soup,
probably from frozen
but the important thing is
we will both eat.

You don't have to be dying,
but if you are,
or you feel like you are,
or if living's been hard,
call me, and I will show up
It doesn't have to be that bad.
it doesn't have to be bad at all,
but if it is, please call.

Do you want me to do the groceries?
Do you want me to mop the floors?
Do you need to be held;
you don't have to be dying to be held.
If you want me to be there, I want to.

I'm on the bathroom floor again,
and breathing is hard
and eating's been hard, and sleeping
the world is a laden thing
rolling around on my chest lately.
Just being alive is heavy tonight,
but we have enough dead friends.
Come over.

Ordinarily I would marvel at PubMed, at least for medical research, but given that it relies on federal funding...
