Obsidian is pretty good, and honestly j found to be much more versatile than notion. It also has tons of plugins. There are third party AI plugins but the core app itself is AI free so far

I continue to think that one of the reasons this country is falling apart is the wholesale abandonment of public virtue as a broadly shared aspiration. Or even something people should be embarrassed about if they don’t have it.

The sheer amount of fuckery that AI enables while burning down the planet at the profit driven whims of a handful of very stupid and malicious people might be our defining moment as a species.

Anthropic says a hacker used its Claude chatbot "to an unprecedented degree": Claude identified vulnerable companies, wrote infostealer malware, analyzed stolen files for extortion purposes, calculated extortion amounts, and wrote extortion messages. www.nbcnews.com/tech/securit...

128 new mergers between black holes and neutron stars.

Today we're revealing the biggest ever update to our count of gravitational wave detections. New data from May 2023 to January 2024 has more than doubled the number we've seen.

For the love of god can tech companies stop shoving AI down our throats. I don’t want your annoying AI overview Google, give me a button to turn it off

Oh fuck off with this nonsense. What's the point of learning about the world around us if we also don't learn about ourselves? This is as anti intellectual as anything the T govt is doing. And this guy doesn't seem to mind the action of the govt, only their target.

In which a Yale prof calls for jettisoning humanities to make way for science-only universities.

“scientists… are being punished for the sins of [humanities scholars] because we all live under one roof. I cannot see a compelling reason for our continued cohabitation.”

WoodCIDE spilled 16,000 litres of oil into the Indian Ocean north of Ningaloo in May 2025 & today, news of #NingalooReef's mass coral bleaching & mortality

It's extraordinary that @wamuseum.bsky.social has extended it's partnership with WoodCIDE for a further 5 years & is hosting Woodside Open Day

#NingalooReef "annual surveys of the northern section of the reef in May found up to 90 per cent of coral had been bleached down to 20 metres depth", the "lowest cover of live coral" observed since 2007

"up to 50 per cent of the examined coral was dead in May" but "more would be dead now"
‘You realise your children are probably never going to see Ningaloo the way you saw it’
The west-coast reef has largely escaped the curse of coral bleaching that has blighted the Great Barrier Reef. This year, that’s changed.

Billionaires say we need to increase the population so we can have more Mozarts while simultaneously saying we don’t need Mozart because AI can make music better than a human anyway.

They don’t mean anything they’re saying. It’s all just words to hide their greed and white supremacy behind.

They're probably not listening to even one Mozart

My bad I meant to say R+20, not Trump+20. From the nytimes article

“Mr. Flood, a second-term congressman who won his district last year by more than 20 points, soldiered through his slide show presentation, saying, “We’re going to see an influx of money into Nebraska hospitals.””

This is a town hall in a Trump +20 district in Nebraska. If this isn’t a guide to Dems on what to focus in the midterms, how to capture back popular support, I don’t know what is

As someone who worked for years, and learned so much from doing so, on the NOVA series, produced by WGBH for PBS...I can't believe that we are throwing away so much of our vital cultural capital.

We are led by nihilist morons.

I remember hearing the words "brought to you by the corporation for public broadcasting" every time I watched Sesame Street as a kid. Horrifying that this tiny pot of funds for educational media and public information is being stolen from us. www.npr.org/2025/08/01/n...
