Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

has anyone else noticed how many @sfmta.bsky.social bus stops have lost their accessible ramps? I find this to be very shocking and a pretty clear ADA violation. does anyone know what's going on here?
geolikestrains.bsky.social
infrequent and inconvenient bus connections cause this. and san mateo county also desperately needs baywheels in the meantime.

idk where I'm going with this but i thinking trying to induce demand for transit without emphasizing benefits of transit DESPITE lack of speed/frequency/convenience is just simply not going to work. the bus won't get better unless YOU ride it.
geolikestrains.bsky.social
I want my transit experience to become faster and more frequent, but that's never gonna happen if we rely on people on their own need for speed and convenience to choose transit. a choice to take transit is a choice for your community, your city, and your planet.

my partner and i commute an hour and 1h15m respectively too and from our jobs. we are still alive!

"I wish I could take transit" is something I hear a lot in the bay area and I'm like okay can you try maybe doing it one day of the week? get up a little earlier and take a car off the road? what about weekends? put a little effort into it cuz there's a lot of people who do it every day
geolikestrains.bsky.social
trying to induce transit demand by improving service is great but we also just need to encourage people to take transit when possible, even if not great, even if it's longer, even if it's inconvenient. i do believe at this stage of the climate and road safety crises it is basically morally mandatory

A Waymo is stopped in the bike lane on the Embarcadero even though there was plenty of room to pull over.

Chuseok aka Korean Thanksgiving is next week and I was reminded of the annual migratory freeway traffic heading out of Seoul into the countryside in the 90s. driving from Seoul to Daejeon a 100 miles away would take 10 hours in standstill traffic. KTX high speed rail helped erase such scenery
Bumper to bumper traffic in South Korea in the 90s during Chuseok season
