Go find bugs, draw bugs, have a seance with bugs but most importantly share bugs (all inverts).

We'll have a special announcement soon as well.

Plus, we've got this poster in multiple languages on our website! www.metrofieldguide.com/invertefest/
What is #InverteFest?

Exciting news, well done and good luck!

Agreed with one minor exception: Transformers. I liked that the G1 and Beastwars shows had no special sequence because it made the process seem normal and mundane to the cybertronians. Not a DB style powerup like in later shows. Like, imagine you had to go super saiyan just to make a coffee.

I look at my iron meteorite every now and then and try to picture the force it took to rip this piece apart.
Palm-size hunk of the Sikhote-Alin fall of 1947, smaller pieces widely available at rock shops.

The time traveller closed the book and stared blankly ahead.

"So," said the author, "was that what-"

"No! That wasn't at all- It's a warning!"

"Allegorical, but y-"

"It's not you I need to kill, it's the person who read this and still wanted to build the Torment Nexus!"

"Kill?"

"I must go!"

I agree with every word Zelda Williams says. And this at the end from OpenAI makes me want to go full Ned Ludd. Creators can’t have a blanket opt-out on copyright infringement of their work and have to fill out a form appealing to OpenAI’s mercy every time? Fuck off into the sun
OpenAI told the Guardian that content owners can flag copyright infringement using a “copyright disputes form” but that individual artists or studios cannot have a blanket opt-out. Varun Shetty, OpenAI’s head of media partnerships, said: “We’ll work with rights holders to block characters from Sora at their request and respond to takedown requests.”

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

This is further evidence that the fossils are not the product of later abiotic processes. Along with other evidence, this data supports the fossils entering the sediment at deposition and early diagenetic processes assisting with their preservation.
geologyjohnson.bsky.social
Late diagenetic features also show a statistically significant negative correlation with fossil presence. More late diagenesis = less fossils. BUT there is stat significant POSITIVE correlation between *early* diagenetic and primary sedimentary features, and the presence of fossils. 1/2

Spent the day doing data entry and cleaning. Turns out that there is a strong statistically significant negative correlation between the presence of fossils, and late stage features like metamorphism and hydrothermal alteration in my samples. Which is a bit of relief.
