Since the article itself is paywalled... my new novel is called THIS IS WHERE THE FUTURE BLEEDS, which @losbennett.bsky.social sold to @titanbooks.bsky.social earlier this year. It's a fantasy adventure in a queer-normative world featuring fractured futures, sapphic romance, and giant wasps.

Want a YEAR OF THE MER galley?

I'll have a secret word for you every day of the con. Be the first or second person to whisper it in the ears of the @sagapressbooks.bsky.social team at their booth and a copy can be yours!

First code tomorrow (10/9). Stay tuned!
ARC of Year of the Mer paperback in hand

I confess I had assumed I would given your endorsement!

Took me a while to get there (extremely normative for me) but yes, loved it. Strong voice, smart structure and a good old fashioned whodunnit twist!

Had a great time with TRADWIFE by @tcparker.bsky.social. True crime social horror bringing The Handmaid’s Tale even closer to home, extremely smart riffs on the reportage style/structure to boot. Thank you @almakatsu.bsky.social for the nod!

Undeniably fucked up. FWIW I believe you, and I want to stop this stuff happening. I had a friend fall to the right years ago, after the death of his partner, and I tried reasoning with him for longer than most, but I never found a way to reach him. He spent too much time alone and online.

As a rule I keep politics off here but sometimes an incident needs highlighting, an experience needs to be seen, a person needs their voice shared.

I'm sixty years old and this country is in a worse place than I've ever seen.

I had the worst lunch. Honestly.

Maybe @bbcnewsnight.bsky.social could cover the rise in the far right, in racist attacks and, you know, the effect on millions of British people instead of platforming them every night

I'd settle for @theguardian.com doing even basic coverage of racism in the UK
Today I sat next to racists planning openly planning to murder people in a cafe
How have we come to a place where racists can openly talk about murdering people in public with no consequence?

Horror folks, it's the middle of September, and the Stoker Recommended Reading List is looking extremely small. If you're a member of the HWA, go recommend something you've read that you loved!

Shoutout to my copyeditor, Kevin Eddy, who I don't think is on here. But I am having a genuinely delightful time reviewing his comments on my manuscript. He and my editor @georgesandison.bsky.social and I have a whole conversation going here, and it's just really fun.

Adding Cheshunt and Sewardstone to the list.

Also seen one car flying the George Cross. Bottle blonde woman driving. The older I get the more I realise what an outlier I am for my home county’s politics.

Extremely depressing, but not very surprising, to see Union Jacks and George’s Cross all the way up the A414 to the A10 in Hertford. I’d love to see them joined by some other flags, say the UN, Pride, trans Pride and EU flags.

This is the story. Coked up drunkards aren’t a protest.

There were no police officers injured and no arrests made at Trans pride London 2025 less than two months ago.
chadbourn.bsky.social
At the Far Right rally in London today, 26 police officers were injured, four seriously.

25 people were arrested, but the police are going to be picking up many more in the coming days.

Can confirm lobbing Jilly Cooper into the 200pt zone just feels great. And that Rose Biggin is excellence on legs.

Lovely evening this week celebrating the publication of Rose Biggin's fab collection Make-Believe and Artifice. Rose set the bar for future launches with a physical book launch (turns out it's pretty therapeutic hurling a dictionary across a dance floor 😅)

I'll be doing a live Youtube reading for The Pixel Project tonight (Friday, Sept 12th) at 8:30 ET. Details are below. The Pixel Project is a great group dedicated to ending violence against women.

"I stayed up late finishing that book. Woke up completely the same."

Once upon a time I was sat in A&E where I had the choice of reading Angels & Demons or staring at my hand trying to decide if it was broken or not. I lasted one page.

Very into Nick's point here, but also, I just can't...

Dan Brown is a fucking million copy performance poet. Look at the sheer effrontery here: The Secret of Secrets. You can read the name in various ways; it means nothing; it promises revelation below the fold; it is perfect titular clickbait.
questingvole.bsky.social
I reviewed the new Dan Brown. It is (I note admiringly), weapons-grade bollocks.
