Socialist who believes we must defeat fascism, that neoliberal capitalism is no longer viable even by capitalist standards, and that we must consolidate green social democracy – all while building movement strong/large enough to achieve true socialism ASAP
If the radical movement had been stronger, New Dealer efforts to undercut mass support for revolution wouldn't have been successful. That's another way of saying the majority of the country wasn't quite ready yet for revolution. With a stronger movement, I hope it *will* be (at the right time)

Once again, two things can be true simultaneously.
1. The New Deal was better than the laissez faire capitalism that preceded it and the neoliberal capitalism that followed it
2. The New Deal undercut mass support for revolution
The movement was much stronger than now, but not strong enough
