comhghairdeas Uachtarán Connolly! Mna na hEireann agus Stait na hAontaithe stand with you. There’s a lot of unhappiness in Ireland right now and it’s a direct result of late stage, capitalism and corporate interest coming before the people. I hope the next seven years will bring change to that.

Fascism succeeds when we debate the worth of others
When we decide that it’s “ok” if certain people suffer
That they “deserve” it
Abandoning red states because they voted for Trump is playing into the hands of fascists
Not to mention all the children who have no say, no agency & need protection

I need y’all to see the disconnect between your very real concern about gerrymandering and all the forms of voter suppression and your ire against southern and red states and your belief that all those people get what they deserve.
You don’t actually care about the first if you believe the second.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

Not my best picture, but holy crap was this good. Grilled asparagus, burrata, crispy shallot-garlic-pine nut in oil with honey and red pepper flakes, and parsley and mint on top. 10 out of 10

I'm not a lawyer and I'm very tired, so excuse me if this is a stupid question:
But if the principles of birthright citizenship *were* ever dismantled ... what's the theory for how citizenship would be determined?

The US is trying to ban masks, mRNA vaccines, dismantle healthcare and social supports and arranging to keep lists of people with autism (and possibly other disabilities).
This is not how you tackle the chronic illness epidemic. This is how you begin a nationwide eugenics program.

I've managed to live without Amazon. I used to get Amazon deliveries practically daily. Now I just plan ahead a little and order stuff direct. I realized I put up with a lot of shitty products I don't even really need just because they were shipped to me quickly
And that's the real threat of a boycott for a big company. Once people realize other options exist, some might be better, closer, have friendly staff or better parking. Then you are toast.

Bold of you to assume they will be able to read
I feel confident in predicting history will judge this decade or so as the absolutely stupidest time in American history.
Honestly our kids and grandkids will read about this time and be shocked that adults existed.

Incredible language exhibit in Victoria. People ask me all the time “why learn Gaeilge? No one speaks it anymore, you don’t get anything from it.” The loss of language is a loss of identity and culture. You shouldn’t feel you need to monetize something for it to be a viable use of time.
