Magnar ruffled his hair with his hands in frustration. “Ok, I’ll help you here for one more day. But I am raising my fee considerably. This is getting way too dangerous.” Loke huffed. “Deal.” She didn’t like it, but at least she would have a chance of surviving tomorrow. Otherwise, she knew she wasn’t going to be able to press forward and her life would end here, largely unfulfilled. “Let’s hide them and get back to the inn. Obviously, you need to rest and I need to secure a new job after this one is done.”

So much to do, running out of time and I'm spacing out watching a hockey game. In theory I should have until 7 tomorrow when the party starts but almost everyone is coming like, at 3pm. WHY??? I have errands to run and I want a nap T_T

- Loke in book 1 is looking forward to survival and not really looking forward to what her future has to hold.
- Magnar in book 1 is looking forward to getting to know Loke
-Book 3, Kalua (16) is looking forward to eliminating the people that want to eradicate his mom.

Dias opted to let Loke sleep and took over her watch shift in the early morning hours. He was tired, but he could go a lot farther on little sleep than she could, especially after she exhausted herself. Magnar was the first one up with the sun and sat next to Dias.

Betti was a minor antagonist that came back 20 years (several books) later with a vengeance and none of that was planned. Only people that could predict it is anyone that's read my chatter here or my writing group

Magnar wasn’t one for traditional sword fighting but even he could tell this man wasn’t very well practiced. He only knew how to farm and dodge sharp objects flying at him. He was used to tools breaking and after the end of a hoe hit him square in the forehead once, he quickly learned how to dodge his father’s worn down tools.

reached out to the artist that did one of my insert pages today and let them know i'll need a total of 12... but we'll start with one more. and it'll be the scene i love the most in the entire book >< I really, really love the end of chapter 12 (i'm still amazed that wasn't the first I had done)

not specifying characters, but for the characters that ARE gods, they don't have many rules to follow in their mortal life in regards to it, but abusing their god powers for mortal benefit is a no-no. They still need to retain balance within the god rules

Loke, Asta, and the twins have purple eyes.

Kal (like Magnar) has bright green eyes that Betti likes to catch glimpses of. Most of the time they're fixed in a glare at someone.

Betti's are ice blue.

As Magnar headed out of the inn, he suspected he would be followed. When he hadn’t heard or seen anything out of sorts, he assumed she actually listened to him and stayed behind. He didn't think Loke was the obedient type, but it made things easier that she was right now.

"Oh, Magnar! I know I shouldn't have, but I went outside and got breakfast and the last of the items I need for tomorrow. Minus the beast, of course. The bread is really good. You should try some." She smiled a little then went back to focusing on all of her papers. He knew the bread was delicious. He'd been eating it the past two days even though she refused food. The room around them had been tidied up and anything she might have thrown at him was back into place. The stone room illusion was gone and the cozy library surrounded them once more. He noticed a pedestal, but didn't see any scroll upon it. He wondered if she'd put that away too, or if it wasn't really there for her to read in the first place. The small book with her notes was still in his pocket and he looked over it once more before taking it over to her. "You gave me this two days ago. Did you need it?" She looked up and recognized the book. "No, it's all in here." She pointed to her head and smiled before looking down. Magnar noticed she was smiling a lot more and hoped it was a sign that the worst was behind them.

Kal, the master at NOT smiling, will give his nephews and niece genuine smiles. Finding a trove of ancient papers with ties to his father's ancestry got a big one out of him. Otherwise, he has to be pretty drunk to relax his entire face into smiles

The villagers were intrigued with the visitors. Zipan was so cold and unwelcoming that they considered visitors a novelty. The children loved Balan, as they had someone new to play with and were able to learn more games. The group decided to accept the invitation to stay another night, but of course they had to be cautious, as it would be easy for the military to find them if they lingered too long. Despite the risk, the extra day proved to be rewarding. Once Magnar learned of their location, Loke was able to consider their next destination. She had it narrowed to two locations but she wanted to consult with Cam before making her final decision. Cam found Loke having a cup of hot water inside one of the houses. “I heard you were looking for me. Is something wrong?” “Not wrong, per se, but I thought we should talk about a few things before we leave tomorrow. Getting out of Zipan is going to be difficult. I don’t know how we are going to leave the country, but I do want to have a solid destination that isn’t just ‘away from Zipan.’” Loke gestured at the chair beside her. Cam accepted Loke’s offer and sat. She hadn't spoken to Loke one on one like this and given the expression on her face, she wondered if she should be worried. “I figured we would have this discussion as a group, but what were you thinking?” “There’s an ancient ceremonial platform in Tohil that I wanted to visit, but the twins are very against going to Tohil at all. I don’t expect you to explain the reasons, but is there no part of Tohil that we can explore?” Loke knew if she brought it up with everyone present, it would lead to an argument and distractions they didn’t have the time for.

Have to go to others for this (Loke and Kal are never out of money). During the off season, Magnar picks up work as a guide or guard for travelers.

post book 1, Loke would be noticed by the markings on her face. They're prominent and dark teal. Same for Magnar but his are dark red.

Kal doesn't have anything too noticeable right off, but probably how he carries himself. He has great poise and confidence in his stance. Betti is 9' tall.
