Throughout the story, Mireia becomes much wiser about who she trusts, what she values & how she uses her power. When she's young she's focused mostly on her own individual, kinda shallow understanding of freedom, & she admires people who are outwardly "strong" 🧵

I apologize for the lack of the word, but this short almost spoilery snip is caused by failing batteries, so that counts, right??

Six pairs of eyes gleamed at Edie. She stared back at them, all of them spun in temporary silence. Then Edie was plunged back into sudden darkness as her flashlight gave up for good.

Generally I can root for a character who is *trying*. Even if they fuck up 95% of the time, if the other 5% is a genuine attempt to get or be better, I can still root for them.
However I can be charmed by a little shit with no shame ❤️❤️❤️

Atl is proud, hot-tempered, often defensive. He was raised as royalty, but trauma, rejection, and fear of not being enough has made him bitter and desperate to prove himself. Being sheltered and having next to no life experience outside of constant battle training means he is more naive +

I blather a lot about him, but specifically re: 1661:

He has a strong drive to Get Involved, for better or worse. He's especially gallant towards women and instinctively sides with the weak. Though this betrays an ambiguous chauvinism, and I'd like to leave room for judgment about this.

Milo is very reserved and has a difficult time communicating due to a different set of anxieties 😂 but this generally means that while he puts himself through anything to help the people he cares about, he has a difficult time reaching out for help himself. Which may become an issue in book 3 🤫

Edie is very anxious, and because of it both has a hard time handling certain situations but also has a very hard time letting them go. This means she can have a difficult time engaging, but rarely gives up entirely. She's also anxious to please the people around her.

I do think that for a reader to connect to a character, we need to see at least one moment of vulnerability to really understand what makes them tick ❤️ but still, I liked your character descriptions 😄

Wren like to be prepared and have plans on top of plans because it gives her a sense of control. Her brain is always going and rarely shuts off, so in moments where she finds a little mental peace she is happiest. She is an odd combo 🧵

Lex is good-hearted and compassionate but naive. She's also guarded, with a tendency to suppress her emotions instead of letting them out.

Daemrin is charming and funny, but also hotheaded, irreverent, and prideful. He's protective of those he loves and cares little for anyone else. #PlotTober
